Dona Lace Lingerie Wash in the Blue Lotus aphrodisiac infused line is a very effective and gentle lingerie wash that is made to be gentle with the delicate materials found in most lingerie. Unlike a harsh detergent, there are no abrasives and harsh chemicals in the Dona Lingerie Wash. This is a wonderful alternative to detergents and Woolite.
The lingerie wash is packaged in the standard clear bottle with the pretty and tasteful lace patterned design that is is immediately recognizable as being from the Dona line. It is discreet and is safe to leave in the washroom, bathroom or kitchen, close by to where you hand wash your lingerie.
The directions state to use 1/2 cup of lingerie wash per gallon of water. I found out personally, this is way too much soap and was upset to waste so much when a couple tablespoons will do very effectively. Draw your water in the sink or tub, add two tablespoons in a sink, four in a shallow tub. Let the lingerie wash suds up, you may help it if you wish by swishing your hand in the water rapidly. When the sink or tub is full and the bubbles are rich enough for your satisfaction, gently submerge your lingerie in the water until it is saturated. Let your clothing set about 10-20 minutes, then I gently rubbed and swished them in the water to get the dirt and other contaminants out of the material. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and gently press the water out--DO NOT wring your lingerie out. That causes breakdown in the material, ripping and tearing on the seams and heavy duty wrinkles. Let your wonderful smelling and clean lingerie air dry.
After the lingerie is dry, you will notice a fresh, appealing scent of Lily of the Valley with a hint of a clean soap smell. I have the complete Dona Blue Lotus bath and beauty line and when all the products are paired together, the scent is still very light, but has a richer and subtle undertones that you do not get with just using one or two of the products. The aroma also tends to last on your body, and lingerie, most of the day. My corset was washed on Tuesday of this week and I can still smell the light, floral essence of Lily of the Valley today, which is Thursday.
The aroma is very light and fragrant. It starts out with a fresh pureed cucumber smell, I recognize that from when I make my gyro sauce-I use pureed cucumbers in it, and then deepens to a subtle floral fragrance that smell almost exactly like a very light Lily of the Valley perfume. There is no cloying deepness as with a lot of aromas, this one is fresh and clean.
I did notice that there was no residue left in my sink when I have used this wash, that is definitely a bonus!! My lingerie feels clean, not starchy or stiff like it can with detergents. I also have had no skin irritations or itchiness at all with this Dona Lingerie Wash. Some detergents will cause me to itch until I break out with random, small red bumps. I have found a product for cleaning my lingerie that works much better than Woolite, gets my lingerie wonderfully clean and leaves an appealing scent in the material.
I did wash my corset with Woolite after wearing it today. There is no lingering aroma of the Dona Lingerie Wash left in the material. This washes out very easily if you change your mind about using it for some reason. I am liking this top quality and unique wash from Dona and will continue to use it for years to come.
Do not use this in a wash machine or dishwasher, it is not meant for that much agitation and might cause a serious bubbling over issue. Please do not ask how I know this, lets just say it was not pretty!! I do have the most wonderful smelling curtains now, however. This wash works well for decorative stitchery, doilies, crocheted items, knitted items and pretty much anything you have to wash carefully by hand. I suppose you could wash your curtains in the bathtub to get them clean and fresh smelling in the scent of Lingerie Wash you prefer.
