The handle is a hard, smooth plastic that is easy to grip so long as you don't get sweaty hands. This is a large toy. This toy is literally the length of my forearm-- from my elbow to the palm of my hand. I would compare the vibrating head to a small fist, to continue the "THIS THING IS AS BIG AS MY ARM!!" analogy.

I really appreciate the delicate balance of firmness, flexibility and plushness found in the head, though. This is a hard combination to get right and it would be worth even more points if only the handle wasn't so bulky. The head is more or less flat on the top which I find advantageous to making contact with a wider area.

The vibrations in this toy originate from the head and don't carry well into the handle. I find this a positive as my hand would go numb otherwise. There are a paltry two vibration settings activated by a sturdy see-saw switch-- "H" (denoted by a red dot) vibrates at 6000 rpm and "L" (a white dot) vibrates at 5000 rpm. The wand is easily turned off by balancing the switch in the middle. The volume of this deep whirring toy makes me wary of alerting passersby (and is distracting to me as well). The low setting is plenty vibration for me but still makes a racket, and remains audible under a pile of blankets.

I have surprised myself turning it onto high when I didn't want to because the controls were difficult to make out in dim light and another time when I turned it onto high instead of turning it off because I had diminished motor-control post-orgasm. (I survived both times)

The Magic Wand has all kinds of openings around the switch and underneath the head so don't even try taking it into the water!

There isn't much care involved since it's meant only for external use, but if you use it directly on skin you may find the textured dimples on the head will accumulate "crud" that needs to be washed away with something like a sanitary wipe. It's best to carry your cleaning solution on a cloth of some kind as this toy has lots of open joints that could fill with water. There are also seams on either side of the plastic handle that could accumulate dirt that would be best cleaned off with a scraping tool or moist cloth.

The only difficulty in storing this toy is finding a space with enough "length" to accommodate it. Because it's plastic and used externally it doesn't require a lot of protection.

The design on the box is a throwback to the past and I wonder if it's been updated since the 80s/90s. Pictures on the box show sporty young women massaging their muscular aches and pains around their arms, back and shoulders. Overall it conveys the message "this is a medical product". I appreciate it's effective discretion and am actually a little charmed by it.

There is little wasted space as this cardboard box is just enough to fit the massager and it's cord inside. A small instruction manual with safety info (don't bend the head too far, don't get wet, etc.) is included.

I don't regret my Magic Wand but I suspect that's because I've never had a better vibrator. I'm very happy with the pleasure this has brought me, but left a little unsatisfied in regards to functionality and practicality with this toy and so I'm still open to replacing it with something better.

After being let down by a weaker, battery operated vibrator, I decided to stop messing around and get something very strong that would never lose power.
