Six scents kit review
Being something of an essential oil junkie, I was able to find many uses for these oils, and they performed wonderfully in each situation. They provided a lovely and subtle scent when mixed with water and set over a potpourri burner. They worked wonderfully as scented bath oils.

Kama Sutra's Six Scents Kit comes packaged in a lovely little gift tin that cleverly holds six surprisingly large bottles of essential oil blends. When you open the tin, you are treated to the sight of six multicolored bottles of oil arranged in a circular holder of velvety lilac-colored material.
I found the oils themselves to be of quite high quality and intensity of scent (important to those of us with allergies and bad sinuses!). The oils themselves are light, quickly penetrate the skin, and are all pleasantly fragranced and colored. I did not experience any sensitivity issues with these oils, but then I don't have particularly sensitive skin. Though the essential oils are blended into a base oil, please use caution when trying the oils for the first time, as with any essential oil product.
The oils themselves are blended to correspond with the "six senses" of taste, touch, scent, hearing, sight and "intuition." "Taste" is a light orange-colored blend of sandalwood and vanilla. "Touch" is a lavender-colored blend of lavender and citrus scents. "Scent" is a bright yellow and lovely blend of roses and jasmine. "Hearing" is a pale green oil fragranced with patchouli and bergamot. "Sight" is a bluish-purple oil scented with sandalwood and cedarwood. Finally, "Intuition" is a deep purple oil blended with the scents of cedarwood, cinnamon, lemon and orange.

They provided a lovely and subtle scent when mixed with water and set over a potpourri burner. They worked wonderfully as scented bath oils. The oils by themselves are too light to be effective massage oils, but they're intensely fragranced enough to be blended with an unscented massage oil base to create an aromatic massage oil. Though they ARE oils and thus will stain fabrics, I found I was able to use them to scent my linens by first applying the oil to my hands, rubbing it into my palms until the oil was absorbed, then stroking the scent onto my pillowcases and sheets. My favorite use for the oils, however, was as a personal fragrance--they give off a delightful scent when rubbed into skin, applied to pulse points, or (my favorite) smoothed lightly into the hair.
My only complaint and warning about this product is that, unlike most of Kama Sutra's line, it is not edible. However, I find that a fair trade-off for a delightful and authentic essential oil experience. Even for someone who generally prefers to blend her own oils, I found the Kama Sutra Six Scents kit to be quite appealing, useful, and a lot of fun.

Follow-up commentary
6 months after original review
I'm very happy to report that the quality of these oils is still holding up very well! Often, essential oil products and blends can go bad, and take on a somewhat rancid smell. These, however, are still fresh as the day I opened them! They've found their way into so many uses in my household, from scenting unscented massage oil for sensual massage to being used as bath oil and in potpourri burners. Definitely a fun and versatile product, and in such a cleverly designed and lovely package! This would definitely make a great gift to anyone who enjoys scented products or has a bit of inner "hippie child"!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind feedback! This really is a great set of oils, full of variety and just awaiting your creativity!

Which is the best scent?
-
Honestly, it depends on my mood, but "Touch" is probably my favorite scent, since I'm fond of both lavender and citrus notes. "Intuition" would probably be my overall second.

great job

I ran across this review while searching for the kit itself. I used these oils regularly about 6 years ago and just when I needed to replace the set, Kama Sutra stopped selling them through their website or catalogue. If anyone knows of a source for it I'd be incredibly grateful!

Thank you for the review.

Great review and I agree that this is a great product. The best part is that, after several moves where I lost my kit for a few years, the oils still smell and feel as fresh as when I bought them. The tin is still in marvelous shape as well. Truly a wonderful product.
