Heavy-on-the-Spices Fragrance Spray

The aromatherapy powers could not make me "love" this smell. While the name and packaging are pretty, the scent is not. Save your money and try something else.

Use

This H20 based fragrance spray is meant as a scented aromatherapy spray. It is not intended for lubrication, massage, or oral ingestion. Even though it is a water-based spray, the scent is heavy so those with allergies or who are sensitive to scents should move on. Also, I would not recommend giving this as a gift because the scent is very particular and not the type that will appeal to a wide variety of people.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The consistency is like water, it comes in a basic pump spray bottle. It is exactly like other water-based body sprays- you spritz it on, the water evaporates, you are left scented. I much prefer this format to oil or alcohol based sprays that can go on too heavy, and the pump spray is more friendly to the environment than aerosol.

    • Thin

Taste / Aroma

The aroma is quite heavy. The description reads "100% Pure Love, Essential Oils of Coriander, Clary Sage, Bergamot, Benzoin resinoid, cedarwood, Litsea cubeba, mandarin, geranium, cypress, frankincense, nutmeg & vanilla in a base of distilled Water" [sic].

While there are a few scents listed above that I know I like- vanilla, mandarin, nutmeg- none of them come through. The cedarwood overpowers everything else. What you end up with is the scent of a curry-spiced bathroom cleaner.

There is no real taste to the spray.
    • Bad smell
    • Strong smell

Performance

The Princess Spritzer performed the technical function of being a scented spray very well, but it did not fulfill its actual purpose. Because the scent was so unpleasant, it was difficult to use it for its aromatherapy benefits. That is to say, my negative feelings towards the scent distracted me from the feelings of love it is meant to spark.

The scent lasts strongly for several minutes, but eventually absorbs nicely and fades to the background. After it has dried it is much less noticeable and much less unpleasant.

The scent is meant to be used as a body spray, so when you are done you have to shower to wash it off. It comes off very easily, in fact, it may fade away before you get around to wanting wash it away. If you don't want to spray it on your body, however, since it is water-based you could spray it on your sheets or pillow without staining.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural

Packaging

The packaging is nice- the label has a home-printed feel that brings to mind local businesses. The spray pump is not sealed and from the look of the blue bottle, it seems to be in recycled condition.

Experience

At first spray, I really did not like the scent of this product. However, as it dried the scent faded. As I went throughout the day I got a few whiffs and it was tolerable. I never grew to like the smell, though, and I didn't feel it fostered love in any way. Also, my husband hates the smell.
Follow-up commentary
It looks like this scent has been discontinued, at no great loss to humanity. I've tried this again to see if it was just a bad day, but no, the first smell is overpoweringly repugnant. It does fade within a few minute to become lightly spicy, but then soon fades to nothing. Try something else!
