Use

Coochy's main goal is to moisturize and protect skin while helping to alleviate the razor burn and irritation that comes with shaving.

While Coochy can technically be used anywhere, it's really geared toward genital use, especially for women. It doesn't say that in the instructions or on the side...but it's called Coochy and it's sold in sex stores, not at Wal-Mart. I'm just making the obvious inference there.

Despite the girly name and packaging, Coochy can be used by anyone, of any gender, who has hair to remove on any area of the body. Don't shave? That's okay. Coochy still has a place in your bathroom as a hair conditioner.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Coochy comes out creamy. I can put this in my hand and flip it over and it will not budge. Think of a high quality conditioner and you have Coochy. Not runny like some of the cheaper conditioners you can pick up at the drug store. It feels soft to the touch and seems to moisturize any skin it touches almost instantly. While it is moisturizing, it does not leave a greasy feeling afterwards.

I have the super industrial size (16 oz.), so mine has a pump. The pump works well and the product hasn't clogged it up yet. I've had it about two week, so we shall see.

Taste / Aroma

Looks like a conditioner, doubles as a conditioner, and also happens to smell like one. I'm thinking maybe like a slightly more floral version of Pantene, but it's been a long time since I smelled Pantene so I might be a little off the mark. The smell is very light. I had to put it on my hand and bring it all the way up to my nose before I even noticed it had a smell. During use, it was odorless to me.

Performance

I only need two or three pumps, about a quarter size dollop, of this product to shave my girl parts (which is all I use this for). The product stays in place until I actually wash it off. It cleans off easily with just the pressure of my shower head, though I do make sure to rub just in case there is any excess product. Best of all, it will not leave a film on the razor after use. I used to use regular conditioner to shave my legs and it always left this gross built-up residue on my razor. Somehow, Coochy doesn't do this.

Coochy is formulated for sensitive skin. The ingredients are: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Bromide, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethykcellulose, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-60 Lanolin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Simmodsia Chinnenis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Panthenol, Allantoin, Mathylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea

Packaging

Coochy doesn't come in a package so the package is essentially the bottle. The bottle has "Coochy" in large lettering along the top and "all over body shave creme" below it. It has a photo of a woman's legs that is cut in half - half being in the color of the bottle and half in black and white for contrast. The back gives directions for use for both shaving and hair conditioning, as well as an ingredient list. The side gives a little information about Coochy, basically a few sentences of self-promotion. For example, Coochy is "a great moisturizing conditioner that softens even the coarsest of facial and body hair."

The bottle isn't discreet, as the word "Coochy" is in the largest font size. If you don't want someone you live with knowing the status of your nether regions, maybe you could peel the sticker off of the bottle or put it in another container.

Experience

I've held out on buying Coochy for years now. I have the most sensitive skin you can imagine and I will get UTIs and yeast infections at the drop of a hat, so I HATE trying new cleaning or shaving products. I'm always terrified I'll end up with some type of problem. Despite the sensitive skin claims, I was worried. After reading all the positive reviews, I finally caved.

I've used Coochy for two weeks (long enough for a problem to arise if it was going to) and haven't had any issues at all. I'm thrilled! I got this in original so it wouldn't have any additional scents in it that could potentially trigger something.

In terms of actual performance, I don't know how I lived those years without this cream. My shave was closer and there was a drastic reduction in the amount of cuts. I'm clumsy as all get out, so the best cream in the world isn't going to prevent all of them, but the worst time so far I think was three and my usual is probably double digits.

After my shave, I had no razor burn. None. Not even a little. For super sensitive skin, that's an amazing feat to accomplish. I feel like I'm forever red down there from irritation and razor burn and Coochy has alleviated that.

I also noticed that my shave lasted longer. I'm Italian, so I have thick hair. Usually by the end of the day I need to shave again. With Coochy, I could probably make it a day and a half or maybe two. Any additional time that I can buy in between shaves is greatly appreciated as a lot of my life seems to go to shaving due to my insanely thick hair.

The skin that has been shaved feels soft and smooth after using this cream, as if I applied a moisturizer on afterward. Even my husband noticed how soft I felt.

I did not try this as a conditioner, as my hair is hard to manage and I have a conditioner that I'm very dedicated to, but I would imagine that for normal hair this would work very well.
Follow-up commentary
I never use this anymore. It's not that it's a bad product. It works very well and I would still recommend it for most users. I wasn't a big fan of the ingredients given my sensitive skin and wanted something more natural. I hunted down Sliquid Smooth and have been using that ever since. The ingredients are much better on that and I don't have to worry about possibly getting an infection from it. I never did have an issue with Coochy but I was always paranoid that I might randomly get one. I'm much happier now without the lingering concern.
