Feeling Fresh and Fine (Camu Camu Lemon Drop)

I really like this lip balm and fully intend to buy the other scents in the future! The tingling sensation it gives, the nice scent, and great texture were all things I want in a lip balm and made this a great product.

Use

Dona's plumping lip balm is for chapped lips that could use to look a little plumper, in theory. In reality, it's like really creamy Chapstick with a refreshing tingle. I can't say whether or not your lips will look any plumper after using this, but after applying a copious amount I have to say my lips did look a little more swollen for a short amount of time. So if you're heading out and want your lips to get noticed, it couldn't hurt to apply some of this.

This product is geared towards women as a cosmetic but since in the end it's just as good as any other lip balm if not better, anyone can use it. The packaging isn't particularly girly and I imagine lots of people of any gender would enjoy the refreshing smell and tingly feeling. Who knows, it could even disguise bad breath with the mintiness and that's something anyone might find handy.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture on my balm was thick and creamy, not sticky or waxy at all. I consider this a very good thing when it comes to lip balms, because it goes on smoother and stays on better. I don't feel like I have to apply it as much as I do with harder, waxier balms.

I saw other reviews complaining about a gritty texture in their Dona balm but mine didn't feel gritty at all. Other people also complained about this balm melting easily, so you might want to watch out for that.

Taste / Aroma

This lip balm had no taste, but smelled delicious! Before reading reviews I was concerned that the lip balms would smell just like their bath product counterparts which isn't very appetizing but instead each balm has a scent related but not the same. I chose the "camu camu lemon drop" balm, but it smells more like minty lime with the mint being the most overpowering element. I also detect a little bit of melon in the smell.

Other scents and their lip balm equivalents:
- Acai = Acai passion fruit.
- Pomegranate = Pomegranate martini.
- Mangosteen = Mangosteen delight, whatever that means.
- Blue lotus = Blue lotus sorbet.
- Goji berry = Goji berry peach melba.

Performance

This lip balm performed very well for me. It made my lips feel smooth and kissable, and possibly a tiny bit plumper and pinker from the tingling aspect which also just plain felt nice. I enjoyed the scent wafting up to my nose throughout the day. Without eating or drinking, it lasted for hours without feeling the need to reapply it and even when I did eat and drink it would still stay on pretty well without getting sticky or gritty.

The only thing that would make my lip balm better would be if it was at least an SPF 15 like some other lip balms I've had.

Packaging

The packaging is very simple. The lip balm comes in a typical tube like most lip balms, with a label that has the ingredients and manufacturer website. The tube is black and the label is a dark snakeskin print with a green top. Different scented balms have different corresponding colors. Since it's just a lip balm, the packaging is completely discreet and nonsexual except for maybe the way it says "aphrodisiac infused" at the top.

Ingredients:
Olea Europeae (olive) fruit oil, beeswax, Theobroma Cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) butter, Riicinus Communis (castor) seed oil, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, caprylic capric triglyceride, stearalkonium hectorite, propylene carbonate, palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, Simmondsia Chinesis (jojoba) seed oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), Lonicera Caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract, menthoxypropanediol, tetrahexyidecyl ascorbate (Vitamin C), vanillyl butyl ether, and flavor.

I tried it and it didn't work, but maybe it will be back up soon.

Special Features

This product is supposed to plump your lips (Due to the tingling properties, which increases blood flow.) and is also supposed to be infused with aphrodisiacs. As I said before, it did mildly stimulate my lips and make them look more kissable, but I can't say that I had any aphrodisiac effect from this lip balm.

Follow-up commentary
AAAAH it melted!
I had it in my pocket on a slightly warm day and it melted, then reformed into a weird cone shape and in the cap. I was able to smash it back down to its original shape but there's still balm in the cap which is annoying.
On the bright side, the texture hasn't changed at all since this tragic incident (No grittiness.) and I still have some left though I've been using it multiple times a day since I got it. What can I say, I'm addicted to smooth lips.
I'm getting one in this same flavor for a friend's birthday, too!
