Excellent Lip Lovely Kit.. "Okay" Lip Exfoliating and Moisturizing Kit
If you are looking for a cute pampering set for yourself or to give as a gift, then you’ll love this kit. If you are like me, and are hoping for a kit that will do an excellent job in exfoliating and moisturizing your lips, I would not recommend this kit. It's pretty and smells good, but the scrub grains are weak and the moisturizer doesn't absorb.

Pros
Cute packaging, scrub tastes yummy, strawberry scent, ingredients.
Cons
the product does not exfoliate and moisturize as well as I was hoping it would.
I love pampering myself, and when I seen this kit, I realized that I have body care products for just about every part of my body and face, other than my lips. My lips are quite dry regularly, but during the winter months it is much worse than usual. I bought the Strawberries and Cream Lip Set, but it also available in peppermint.
The lip lovely set comes in a simple, cute cardboard packaging. The packaging is pink, black, and white in colour. The front of the packaging states the brand name, product name, and flavour/scent. The back of the packaging has a brief description of the product, as well as the company information. The packaging is quite feminine and is cute for gift-giving. I did not keep the packaging though because the cardboard is really thin and not useful to store the products in when you are not using them. You can see in the photos below that there is a bit of wear already on the cardboard.
Inside of the cardboard packaging is the 1 fl. oz Sugar lip scrub and 1 fl. oz Lip Balm. Both the scrub and balm are in pretty plastic jars with black, plastic lids. The jars are recyclable. I will probably save the jars so that I can use them for homemade cosmetic products.
The ingredients for both the scrub and balm are listed on the back of each jar. The ingredients in each are as follows:
Lip Scrub: sucrose, flavor, helianthus annuus (sunflower oil) seed oil, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil in a petrolatum base.
Lip Balm: hydrogenated polybutenes, petrolatum, beeswax, isopropyl palmitate, flavor, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) theobrema cacea (cocoa) seed butter, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), red 6.
The strawberries and cream lip scrub is clear in colour and has grains of sugar in the scrub to exfoliate your lips. The taste is very sweet and enjoyable. The strawberry and cream moisturizing lip balm is a light pink colour in the jar, but is not coloured when it’s applied to your lips. The moisturizer does not have a taste, but does smell delicious. Both jars should last for many applications because you do not need much of either to treat your lips.
HOW TO USE:
It’s a pretty straightforward 2-step process, but the packaging does not come with any instructions, so I figured I would write out the details in the two steps for clarification.
Step 1: With either dry or wet lips (I prefer to moisten them with a bit of water, pat them dry, and then proceed), apply the lip scrub to your lips with your finger (or other application tool) in small circular motions for 1-2 minutes. When you are finished this process, you can wipe the scrub off with a damp washcloth or by splashing water on your lips. I prefer using a damp washcloth. This will take off any dead skin layers on your lips and by exfoliating them; they are left feeling fresh and new.
Step 2: Apply a thin layer of the lip balm to your lips. This step moisturizes your lips.
Repeat as often as you wish.
When I used the lip set, I was expecting a little bit more from the products. I love using exfoliating products for my body that have a sand-like grain to them. I was expecting to exfoliate my lips with grains that were a bit harder than sugar. It did taste lovely, but it didn’t do as well of a job as I it could have with stronger grains.
As for the balm, I was expecting a moisturizing product that would soak into my lips after a certain amount of time. When I applied the moisturizer, it was like I had Chap Stick on my lips. The balm did not absorb at all, even after a long period of time of being on my lips. After about 45 minutes of having the balm on, I decided to wipe it off with a washcloth.
Overall, this is a cute set and it gets a 4 star rating out of 5. It smells lovely, tastes lovely, and would make an excellent gift. It lost a star though because I really do not find it to be the most effective lip care set; the grains need to be harder, and the moisturizer sits on your lips, rather than absorb and truly moisturize them.

Follow-up commentary
7 months after original review
I like the Lip Lovely Set but I've only used it a handful of times since the review. I use the set as a sweet little treat for my lips. I don't use it when I need good exfoliating or moisturizing to my lips because I find that other products work better. It's a cute little set. I'm glad I purchased it but I don't think I'll purchase another set when this runs out.
