This, like many other soy candles, is great for a nice semi-warm massage. If you are looking for something for temperature or wax play pass all soy candles up. They don't get hot enough. If you are looking for something to make the room smell pretty or massage yourself or a partner and have them smell good take a look at this.
Since this is soy based and everything else in it is a natural product allergies shouldn't be a huge issue. One of the main ingredients in it was grape seed oil which is a phenomenal lube. The problem with using this as a lube is that as it cools down it gets sticky and semi-solid.

When solid it's primarily a paste feeling. You could use you hand and scrape some out if you wanted. When it's in a liquid it's a very light viscous oil. It feels like all soy waxes feel: like a thin velvet oil. It slides through the hands and pours real easy. As it cools it turns back into the paste type thing. It brushed off anything we spilled on and can be cleaned off skin with water.

The smell was the drawback for me. I was assuming that it would heat up and realease a very nice aroma. We waited a full hour to see if the smell would increase but it didn't. We then decided just to go ahead and try it on the skin. When rubbed on skin it finally released a smell. I wanted to try to see how long it would stay on the skin. I put some on my forearm and avoided washing that area. For about a day and a half I would get occasional whiffs of the smell. But our bedroom didn't smell any different ever.

We did try tasting it. It wasn't bad but even then the flavor wasn't present. It reminded me of those little wax bottles mixed with veggie oil and some real watered down perfume.

The biggest issues with this are the time it takes to heat up, smell, and lack of something I feel it needs.
It took almost an hour for it to heat up to even have a usable amount.

The first picture was after five minutes. Not very much liquid which is to be expected.


This is after twenty five minutes. Only about a quarter size usable. This was the major disappointment for me. I could handle the smell being minimal but having to wait for what seemed like forever for a tiny amount of usable wax was depressing.

The smell was great on skin but minimal in the air.

What really killed it for me was the lack of a spoon. It may seem trivial but pouring only can do so much and a full size spoon doesn't fit well. The best I've seen comes with the Shunga Candles. It's a small three inch spoon perfect for dipping.

The can looks really cool and would be great for travel. You could also easily toss it in a backpack or purse if you were planning some sort of late night massage rendezvous. The product came shipped with a plastic wrapper on the outside and the can seals tight enough to extinguish the flame.
