Don't understand the hype
I don't see the hype in buying special toy cleaners. I thought it was a neat idea but now that I own it and I see that it is not really worth the money, I know I will never buy a toy cleaner again. I may invest in a good leather cleaner, but this is not cutting it. It gets 3 stars because it does what it says it will but is too expensive and not worth the hassle.

This is a toy sanitizer; designed to be used to clean toys. It is foaming, anti-bacterial, alcohol free, odorless, non greasy, non irritating, and Made in the USA. It is safe for all materials and designed to be a gentle cleanser that sanitizes and disinfects. It is free of glycerine, paraben, petroleum by byproducts, SLS, ethylene oxide, and "other carcinogens. It has a soft smell that reminds me of lemons, foams softly, washes off easily, does not damage my skin, and feels fluffy. The bottle is not discreet since it does say "toy sanitizer" in big letters on it. If you turn it away from the door someone might mistake it for mouse or some other foaming cream from a distance. The clear cap has a few droplets of condensation always forming on the top of it, though that is not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. The ingredients list is as follows:
- Purified Water
- Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate
- Sodium Trideceth Sulfate
- Propylene Glycol
- Benzalkonium Chloride
- Zinc Gluconate
- Citric Acid
- Phenoxyethanol
The directions for use say: "Remove batteries from toy. Pump desired amount of Smart Cleaner onto a clean damp cloth. Gently scrub the toy's surface, battery cap, and threads thoroughly. Carefully rinse with water, being careful not to get the battery compartment wet. Clean before and after each use to extend the life of your toy."
When we tested this product my husband and I had been pretty busy for quite a while, and a good number of toys in our collection needed cleaning. I cleaned two vibrators, one glass dildo (Icicle No. 38, with the leather whip attached, being careful not to get the leather wet), one multi-function bullet, and a set of Luna Beads. I found no difference between the performance, scent, easiness of cleanup, or anything between this expensive product and just plain old soap and water. It's the same as taking foaming soap and rubbing it on the toys, and then rinsing it off. In fact I might say it did less than soap and water because when I use soap and water I use bar soap and lather it up in my hands so it is thicker than this fluffy foam and seems to clean better.
This means that I don't think this toy is worth spending the money just to use it with warm water and clean your toys. You are better off putting the money towards a toy and using soap and water to clean it just like everyone has been doing since the dawn of toys.
