Use

This massage oil candle by Picobong can be a nice little addition to a romantic getaway. It is easy to use and take on a journey. It is affordable and small, so if you don't like it you won't waste a lot of product. While the size is good for sampling, it would be great if there were larger sized candles available in the same scents (on Eden, anyway). For those who enjoy massage candles, they may not want this one unless they will use this candle for a short massage.

The massage candle is not large so it will not last long for a long massage session. The oil does do the job of softening the skin and gliding for an easy massage. The ingredients are fairly skin friendly. The oil for the candle is to be used externally only. This oil should not be used as a lubricant or for penetration. Oils in general are not great on mucous membranes because the membranes can become irritated. Those with sensitive skin should be okay with this candle. If in doubt, you can do a skin test. To do a skin test, use a small amount of product on an innocuous spot on the body such as the back of the hand or forearm. Then watch that patch of skin for a couple of days. If you see no adverse reactions, you should be good to go.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The cool thing about massage candles is that they have two different usable states: candle and oil. In its solid form, this massage candle is firmer than other massage candles. Some massage candles can be more soft and can even change shape if left on their sides. This candle is more solid. You wouldn't think it is a massage candle by looking at it. It is solid and white before lighting. The wick seems a little long for such a small candle. Usually you're supposed to trim wicks before lighting to produce a more even flame.

When it starts to melt, the candle becomes and oil. The oil allows you to cover a good amount of skin with a small amount of product. It is, well, oily, but it absorbs nicely in the skin considering it is a massage candle. Even after it absorbs, your skin feels different (besides being a bit softer). You can feel that something was on your skin. It feels a bit like a film. It's not bad compared to other similar products. You don't feel gross or unless from it.

Taste / Aroma

The candle is not edible, but it smells it. The coconut and vanilla smells quite delicious. You can detect both vanilla and coconut scents, but I think the coconut scent is a bit stronger. It can make your mouth water. The scent is strong even before you light the candle. Just lifting the lid and leaving the candle out (unlit) will make the surrounding area smell like vanilla and coconut. I think the heat when lighting it makes it more sensual but it still smells edible. The smell is a bit heavier than I would have liked, but it does smell good. It may be too heavy for you if you tend to like fresher scents.

Performance

If anyone is unsure given the look of this candle I want to let them know that the container the candle is in is a tin or metal. At first, I thought it was plastic of some sort and was highly unsafe. Still, you should always be around and monitoring burning flames. If you want something to simply scent the air, this candle will work but it won't last long. The candle burns for about a couple of hours. A couple of hours can still be impressive for a tiny candle, though.

It doesn't take very long to have the candle soft enough for a massage. It doesn't hurt to have it start about 20 or so minutes before you want to use it. It also gives a chance for the scent to travel around the room. The one bad thing is that this oil won't last beyond one long couple's massage. If you really like the scent, you're only tuck with sample sized candles. It's good for trying it out, but it's not an economically feasible option if you like this candle and oil massages.

It cleans up okay given its a massage candle. Depending on your skin type, you may want to take a shower after a massage. The oil can possibly clog your pores. I would also refrain from using massage oil if you know you're going to be sweating. Sweat and oil just makes a greasy feeling. Your skin may also feel a bit tacky/waxy after use.

Packaging

The packaging is simple. The candle comes wrapped in a card-stock box. You can remove it easily enough to access the candle. The other side of the card-stock has directions and warnings in multiple languages. The candle itself has an adhesive lid that you can peel off.

If you wanted, you could also put the lid back on after use (if you really wanted). The candle is tiny enough to fit in a pocket. Just remember that it has a lower melting point than the average candle and can melt in your bags. It's best to put this in a plastic bag before traveling. Make sure the candle is completely cooled before storing it or tilting it.
