Chocolatey and thin

While I hate to dock a star for personal preference, this lip balm did nothing to heal or protect my lips from the constant onslaught of the desert, winter weather. It smells nice and I love the tub it comes in, I just personally prefer a thicker product that forms more of a barrier and has more healing capabilities.

Use

This product comes in a small pot and is intended to be used on the lips. It seems to be mostly intended to seal already healthy lips instead of nourish and heal damaged lips, so it's best used after any more intense healing has been accomplished.

Being chocolatey, this may be preferred more by the women than the men. Men may find both the packaging and the scent offputting, but the product itself is neutral gendered. If you don't mind smelling like a candy shop, this may actually make your women want to kiss you more, guys!

The ingredients are as follows;

Theobroma cacao, (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Persea gratissima (Avacado) Oil, Olea europaea (Olive) Fruit OIl, Beeswax, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E)

If you are allergic to avocado or chocolate, this is not the balm for you. If you don't have any apperent allergies, there aren't any harmful chemicals in this. This is great because it will get ingested in small amounts if you eat or drink while wearing this.

As with any beauty product, you should do a small spot test before rubbing this balm all over your face. You don't want that to be the occasion you found out you were allergic to olive oil!

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Compared to the lip balm I got prior to this to review (Bacio Me lip balm by Principessa Beauty) this is quite a bit thinner. This means that, while it's easier to apply and leaves your lips feeling a bit slicker, it also tends to fade a lot faster and provide less of a 'barrier' between them and the outside world.

You can either apply this with a lip gloss brush or by swirling your finger around it and then rubbing it onto your lips. While a makeup brush is more sanitary, it sort of defeats the purpose of having this in a cute, travel sized pot.

After kissing my boyfriend I didn't notice any get left off on his lips, which he always appreciates. It also doesn't rub off on clothing and stays in place throughout the day very well. It doesn't feel greasy or sticky, but rather feels thinner than the average chapped stick.

Taste / Aroma

When I heard that this was chocolatey I assumed that it would just be a woodsy sort of sweet. No, this is super chocolaty. Upon opening it I was almost taken aback by how strongly it smelled. Fortunately this scent isn't prone to give me headaches, but if you're close to someone else they may be able to notice it if you've just applied it. Because of this it's not the most professional smelling lip product.

On the other hand, I find that this doesn't taste very chocolatey to me. It has a light sweet taste that isn't unpleasant, but it isn't a taste that I'm very prone to lick off of my lips, either. It's a nice addition to already sweet kisses, but if it didn't smell like hot chocolate I wouldn't associate it with this 'flavor.'

I wouldn't recommend licking your lips often with this on because it can leave a waxy residue, but if you get it in your mouth while eating and drinking it can't be noticed. I personally prefer something with less of a noticeable scent, but if you aren't wearing any scents that clash this would be great to wear for more casual occasions.

Performance

The one qualm I have about this being such a thin product is that it doesn't last as long as some of the thicker lip care treatments I use. I find that one application may last me an hour, but that's if I apply quite a bit of it.

I also find that, being thinner, this is not super effective at healing already damaged lips. If you often have cracked, peeling, or dry lips I would recommend something thicker that gives them a bit more protection from the environment.

If you hate the scent, this product is super easy to wash off with soap and water. It comes off easily and doesn't leave any sort of residue. If you try and wipe this off it does mostly remove it but you may end up with a lingering sweetness on your lips.

Something a fellow reviewer brought up is that people tend to either go for thinner or thicker body products. I often complain about lotions being too thin or shower gels seeming watered down, so I think that this comes out in my preference for thicker lip balms.

Packaging

This product comes in an adorable, purse sized jar. It's got a white body and a black top and is made entirely of plastic. I haven't had this leak at all, but I would still not recommend letting this melt. The top has a small, yellow sticker that states what it is and the brand. On the bottom is a small white sticker with the ingredients. It is all together .33 oz.

Experience

While I love the Not Soap Radio makeups and lotions that I've reviewed, their lip products seems to be much too thin for my taste. If you commonly like thinner beauty product these would be perfect for you, but I personally like something a lot thicker and with more healing abilities.

Because of the nice ingredients, great jar, nice scent, and sweet taste I am giving this 4 stars. I hate to dock a star for personal taste, but this did nothing for me sans make me want to put on more of a thicker product. I would recommend this to some people, but it's not for everyone.
