Be careful when you receive this in the mail, when I took it out of the box, it had leaked a little and everything was sticky (although wonderful smelling)! Granted, this might be due to the fact that it was sitting in the mailbox an entire day before I got it and I live in a very hot state. Nonetheless, caution when taking it out of the packaging, you may be doing a little clean up.
I thought the packaging was cute. The little tub was encased in a thin cardboard triangular package. Neither the box nor the tub had any sort of instructions or indication of exactly where or how to use it. Thankfully, I read previous reviews that advised using very small amounts at a time. I am very glad I took that into account!
Upon opening the tub, the gel appeared to be the consistency of jello. When I dipped my finger in it, it was more like half-set jello. Thick enough to stay in place, but thin enough to spread well and evenly without any sort of globbing. I thought it had a wonderful taste. I got cherry, so it kind of tasted like cherry cough drops, but the good tasting ones. A small finger-dab immediately made my tongue a little tingly.
I decided to try this stuff out solo before introducing my partner to it, just in case I ran into any undesirable side effects. First, I put a very small finger-dab directly on and around my clit (for those of you that like very light numbing/tingling sensations, or don't like that sort of feeling directly on your clit, just putting the gel around still does just fine). The sensation it gave me was very nice. Tingling, a little numb, and cool (sort of like menthol). However, this sensation only lasted about 5 minutes.
Next, I tried it out as lube. At first, it was very exhilarating! It was tingling, ntense and exciting! But very, very soon after I'd gotten started, it started to burn. For a little while, I contemplated whether it was just a really, really intense cooling/tingling sensation, or if it was legitimate burning. I came to the conclusion that it was a burning sensation with a little menthol kick. I cleaned myself up fairly immediately, and the sensation died down after about 5 minutes.
Once my solo tests were done, I gave it to my partner to taste. Just tasting the gel, and thinking of its applications to oral sex got him in the mood fairly quickly! He thoroughly enjoyed rubbing it onto my clit and nipples and licking it off.
I'd say this is very good for foreplay. It gives you a tingling sensation, it tastes good, but it's short lasting. It'll do well to get you in the mood and go away once you're ready to go.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
This is one of the much better tasting products me and my other partners have come across. It's tingling sensation is a decent starter. Despite this, the risk of it accidentally ending up getting used internally and making "play time" from then on a highly uncomfortable and displeasing experience keeps it from ever becoming any sort of go-to product.
