Cons
scent fades rather quickly if you don't use enough
I have to admit, I wasn't sure about this one since no one seemed to give a good description of the Blue Lotus scent, but I'm glad I tried it for myself!
According to an old ancient civilizations history text book I own, blue Lotus flowers are believed to be native to the Nile River in Egypt and other areas of East Africa. It is often found in ancient Egyptian paintings and stone carvings, often in scenes depicting the rite of passage into the afterlife. It was the symbol of life, spiritual enlightenment, creation and rebirth, and was believed to help you become closer to the gods, the key to good health. Recently, it has been found that it also holds a pheromone property upon consumption, inhalation of the scent, or absorption into the skin, which is where this perfume comes in.
It comes in only a 1 oz bottle but don't be fooled, a little goes a long way and I can see this lasting a LONG time! Also, small size makes it perfect for travel, even in your clear liquid bag for airplane travel! Like all Dona products, it is paraben free and is not tested on animals. It contains only a few ingredients, which are all quite safe, according to the EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. Since the names alone can seem a bit scary, I've provided what the function is of each ingredient, taken from the Database itself.
*Purified water - pretty self explanitory
*Ammonium Acryloyldimenthyl-taurate/VP Copolymer - viscosity control agent
*PPG-26 Buteth-26 - Skin conditioning/fragrance agent
*Hydrogenated Castor Oil - Skin conditioning/viscosity agent
*Ethyl Alcohol (also known as Enthanol) - Antimicrobial agent
*Estratertaenol - a type of pheromone related to estrogen (the female sex hormone)
*Nymphaea Caerulea (Blue Lotus) Flower Extract - Blue Lotus scent/pheromone
Now that you know what's in it, what on earth does it smell like? Well, unfortunately, there's no real way to pinpoint exactly what it will smell like on YOU. The idea is to rub it onto your pulse points, such as your wrists, neck and behind the ears if you like. The warmth from your skin will help it change to compliment your natural scent, making it a unique scent all together. In its natural state in the bottle, the scent kind of reminds me of a Blue Raspberry flavored War Heads candy. I know it's silly but that was almost an identical match in my mind. After rolling it onto my wrist, it gained an additional cucumber-y scent but after some time, it started to open up with some sweet, floral scents.
There is only one downside I found with perfume - the scent fades pretty quickly. I tested it 3 times:
*1 full circle on my wrist lasted about an hour and a half
*3 circles lasted about 3 hours
*5 circles lasted about 5 hours
If you couldn't tell, you can adjust your scent length by how many times you roll it on to your skin. Now, the scent is not too strong, so you don't have to worry about killing someone's, or your own, sinuses if you layer it. And of course, you can also help it last longer by using other Dona products of the same scent, such as the lotion and body wash.

Experience
Now, to address the pheromone aspect of it.
I ran a blind test with my fiance, meaning that he had no idea I was buying it or, when the time came, wearing it. I made sure to layer it liberally to my wrists, neck, and even along my cleavage for an extra sexy flair.
When I got close to my fiance, he asked "Is that a new perfume?" It kinda made me laugh. He noticed the scent but nothing else. He apparently thought it was just something from Victoria's Secret (since he knows I shop there alot). It wasn't until AFTER I told him what it was a few hours later that he really started to notice it and it turned him on. By then, it was just the idea of it, not just the scent alone. So, all in all, it probably works best if your partner KNOWS what it is.

Thanks for a great review! I really appreciate your putting the scent in the title of your review. Very cool to have a little background on Blue Lotus, too! We got the Dona bath salts in this fragrance and I thought it was a bit lavender-ish. This has been on our wishlist for a while. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it now.
