Pros
Fun colors! Doesn't stain, Mangosteen smells citrus-y, and would make an interesting gift.
Cons
Price, small bottle, may smell to strongly for some.
Chromotherapy (kro'·m·the?·r·pe)
In Ayurveda and other systems, the use of colors to promote harmony and healing based on the belief that certain colors are infused with healing energies (e.g., red is energizing; blue is calming). Also called color therapy.
The Dona Sensual Chromotherapy bath by System JO is a unique way to relax. The bright red color of the Mangosteen scent is non staining and Eco friendly. It is made with natural ingredients and and is enhanced with an aphrodisiac. This a paraben free, cruelty free, and comes in rather small 4.25 fl oz bottle.
It is definitely a nice gift for someone that thought they've tried everything!
The Sensual Chromotherapy bath mixture in Mangosteen is a very dark red/orange color. It seems to be a heavily perfumed water with natural food coloring added to it. When poured into your hands, it turns them a nice shade of red that is easily rinsed off under water.
Ingredients: Purified Water (Aqua), Fragrance, PPG-25 Buteth-26, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexlglycerin, May Contain: FD&C Red #40, FD&C Green #4, FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Yellow #6, FD#C Blue #1.
I choose the Mangosteen scent. It had a very sweet, but tangy citrus-y scent. It reminds me of lemons and orange peels. The smell is much stronger in the bottle. Once you pour three or four cap fulls into the running water the smell lightens up. It fills the room, but is sweeter than in the bottle.
People that are sensitive to perfumes may want to use less of this in their bath or maybe skip it. The Mangosteen scent gives me a slight headache.
When I ran the bath and started adding a few cap fulls of the Chomotherapy liquid, the water started to foam up slightly. The bubbles quickly disappeared as the tub filled. The citrus-y smell of the Mangosteen was a lot easier to take as it was watered down. The redish-orange color was very pretty and different! I don't think I've ever had a red bath before.
The dyes used in the Chromotherapy bath thankfully didn't didn't stain my bathtub or skin. The castor oil didn't leave my skin or tub greasy. And, the Mangosteen scent faded almost completely after twenty minutes with the door open. The scent clings to your skin, but it is very faint and fades away within minutes of drying off.
The package is a simple small 4.25 fl oz clear plastic bottle. The stock images on Eden show the cap to be a push top or flip up style cap, but the one I received was the screw on type. The cap was easy to remove and put back on.
The label is a white and light silver lace pattern that seems to be the theme of the Dona line by System JO. The label fades and smears a little each time it gets wet.
The directions for use are: "Pour desired amount into bath until ideal color is achieved."
I'm not really sure if I liked this the Chromotherapy bath. It made me feel a little silly and sort of like an Easter egg being dyed. It was a very different and interesting experience. I would definitely try this again, but in a different scent/color next time.
The Mangosteen was too strong for my tastes. The citrus-y fragrance gave me a slight headache and made me feel little light headed, until I opened the bathroom door. Maybe I added too much to the bath water, who knows?
Follow-up commentaryI still like it13 days after original review
The Chromotherapy Bath Treatment by Dona was interesting. The small bottle has about 4-6 baths worth in it which doesn't seem like it's worth the price. I might pick up another bottle in a different scent/color if there is a decent sale later just because it was so different.
