Am I doing this right?

This product definitely appears to keep toys clean and safe for use. But, there are absolutely no instructions, so you can never really be sure if you are using it properly.

Everyone who uses adult products should have toy cleaner on hand. This cleaner is a fine choice because of the fact that it is anti-bacterial and made by a well known company. It is also widely available and affordable.

This cleaner comes in a clear bottle with purple and white lettering. The bottle has a spray nozzle and cap. I have had no problems with leaking, even without use of the cap. It is water based so it should be safe to use with most toys.

The text on the front and back of this bottle of cleaner reads "Anti-Bacterial Toy Cleaner - fights bacteria with Triclosan, an Anti-Bacterial Ingredient. - Made in USA" It is made by California Exotic Novelties, and has their logo stamped on both sides of the bottle. The bottle is 4.30 fl oz. The back of the bottle has a list of ingredients.

You are also informed on the bottle that the shape and appearance of the bottle and packaging is a trademark of California Exotic. I find it odd that they cover legal issues better than ingredients ratios and instructions.

I can not say that this cleaner is odorless, but the odor is very slight and not at all unpleasant. It does have an unpleasant taste, and is probably not safe to ingest (although the packaging does not address this) so take care to keep your distance when using it to not breathe it into your mouth or nose.

This product is widely available both online and in shops, and highly recommended everywhere that I am a frequent shopper, so I am inclined to believe it is a quality product that is safe for use. However, the lack of instructions or ingredient percentages is slightly unsettling.

My main concern with this product is the lack of instructions. How do you use it? Spray it on and let it dry? Spray it on and wipe it off? Personally, I wipe my toys off with a personal sanitary wipe, spray the cleaner on, wipe again, and let dry before storing. But with a lack of instructions, I have no way of knowing if I am using this product properly.

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triclosan] an interesting article on Triclosan, the antibacterial componant. I have been unable to find out how long triclosan has to stay in contact with a product to inactive bacteria (it is also thought to have contributed along with antibiotic abuse to the rise of super bugs like MRSA , VRSA, ,etc) I have this product and use it prior to toy use. The toys have already been sanitized and bagged. I leave the spray on 1 minute and wipe off with a paper towel. Unlike alcohol, you don't have to wait till it evaporates to be sanitized. I do wish Cal Exotics had more explicit directions for usage. Many soaps list how much of a percentage of triclosan is in their product. Dial is 0.6 and Safeguard tops everything else at 1.2%, which may be better than the hospital soaps in the dispensaries. The handwashing rule of thumb is 20 seconds of scrubbing, so I do the same with toys, using a soap. The toy cleaner.....no clear rules exist.

Thank you so much Kuuipogal! Yes, the duration between spraying and wiping is what has always confused me.

Thank you Danzig and Kuuipogal, this review (and the subsequent comment) answered all my questions! Antibacterials can be scary in terms of super bugs and the like; I usually do 60 seconds of scrubbing just to be safe. I hadn't even thought of including information like how long to scrub when I do recommend soap and water in my reviews. Now I most certainly will, and I'll probably go edit me old ones to include this information.
