If you want a balm to help repair damage done by being outside you have found it. If you work outside this has no SPF so you are at risk of burning your lips. It helps keep your lips plump and healthy, without the hi-def gloss look you can feel natural with a bit of cooling. Overall this is a great product to help keep your lips nice and healthy.
The Peppermint Lip Treatment by Bella Ilflore is a peppermint lip balm, that has a light cooling sensation when you first apply it. It is used to help repair lips from everyday damage due to sun, wind, or dryness. I found the best time to wear it was at night before bed to help keep my lips from drying out during the night, and also right after being outside for extended periods of time. I did find it easily wiped off so it was best used when you wouldn't be eating, drinking, or kissing. I liked to use mine over lipsticks that were dry, it helped to add a slight gloss to it while still keeping your lips moisturized. The ingredients from this lip balm are made from natural products, so allergy concerns are minimal. The lightness of this lip balm make it a great addition to any lip balm collection to help keep lips from becoming extremely damaged. The lack of SPF makes it to where you may not want to use this as your outdoor lip balm, but keep it handy for when you come inside.
At first glance the lip balm is a thick cream white chunk, but once it comes in contact with heat it begins to melt. It turns into a clear liquid when put onto the lips or even while still on the finger. It instantly begins to melt when either lips or fingers touch it. It does melt easily when it is left in a pocket or put through the dryer so make sure to avoid these things. It overall has a slick, almost oily feeling when it is on the lips, but it is easy to wipe off. It doesn't feel thick or gooey on the lips like some other balms tend to. Once the balm is taken off it does leave the lips feeling lightly greased, but oh so full of moisture. I liked to use my finger to apply this lip balm which sometime meant I got a bit of chunk out of it, but even doing that it would quickly turn to liquid when put onto my lips, it did also leave my finger feeling lush.
Overall this lip balm has both a light taste, as well as scent. The scent is a light sweet peppermint scent, it is similar to a faded candy cane smell. This makes it appealing to many people since it is not strong like many lip balms, but it still there so that it is just a waxy scent. You can smell it while it is on yourself, but unless another person is very close to your lips they will not be able to smell it. The overall taste of the product is a waxy taste that is typical to lip balms made from waxes. It does have a slight mint taste to it though, but not enough to mask the waxy taste. The taste much like the scent is a very light taste, it does make your breathe feel slightly minty overall. This is part of the cooling effect that is associated with the peppermint of the lip balm. The taste and scent help to make this lip balm appealing to more people, teenagers will love the mint scent, while those a bit older will like how it is gentle.
With one application this lip balm remains on the lips for at least an hour, it doesn't have a glossy sheen to it so only the person with it on will know it is there. I'm a serial lip balm applier so mine always felt to be there. To take it off as I said earlier you only have to wipe it off but it does feel as if there is a residue, but that fades after a few minuets. The light cooling effect of the lip balm lasts for about 20 or so minuets. I found that if I placed the container in my pocket it was bulky, and would also cause it to melt. It can stain your clothes if you accidentally run it through the dryer and these take several washes to get out if they come out at all. It does not have heavy feeling so it lets the wearer have a more natural feeling minus the cooling effects. It does absorb into the skin easily, helping to repair the damage quickly, after only two or three applications I felt it starting to repair my lips.
The lip balm comes in a one fluid ounce container, it is a plastic screw top that makes it easy to open. The container is not easily put into pockets, but it can easily be put into a purse. It is a cute pink and black decorated container with cut outs of flowers spread across the container. This could easily be put into travel luggage, as it easily fits into a purse. I actually allow my niece to use it and she has no problem with opening or using it for that matter. This would make a great gift for a young girl, teenager, or even someone who works outside a lot and has dry lips. A man may find the container a bit to feminine for his taste.
I love using this after a long day of work in the sun, wind, and heat. It helps to keep my lips from cracking and becoming painful. I can't wear it at work due to the lack of SPF, but once I'm inside for the day I like to use it for repair work. It makes my lips feel better, and more healed almost instantly.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it1 month after original review
This lip treatment is one of the best I have ever bought. The small container lasts quite some time. I still have some left with using it regularly everyday for several months. It did melt once but it didn't change it as it does some lip balms. It is still as smooth and minty as when I first got it. I use it constantly to keep my lips smooth and supple. Overall even as time passes this stuff stays in my pocket.
