Work it, baby, work it!
This is a good DVD for those looking to build their self-confidence in the sexuality department. Instead of intensive dance and strip routines, it focuses on the basics, like walking, maintaining eye contact, and rolling your hips.

Pros
Good for the true beginner, non-taxing and non-threatening, teaches that "sexy" is an attitude
Cons
Cheesy music, doesn't go beyond core moves into much of a routine
The Art of Exotic Dancing For Everyday Women|The Art of Exotic Dancing For Everyday Women is a 48-minute DVD (minus the extra features) that demonstrates some of the core moves of exotic dancing. The students in the DVD are of all ages and backgrounds (though I wish they had more women of size), so you really get a feel this product is geared toward the “average” person.
Be warned--this DVD is not going to turn you into a skilled exotic dancer overnight. It does not really cover dance and routines, but just some of the core skills--sexy walking, hip rolls (4 types) and some basic floor work, like arching your back and crawling sexily. It finishes off with a very basic striptease requiring just a large man’s dress shirt, a pair of high heels, and the moves learned in the DVD.
Most importantly, in my opinion, the DVD teaches you that the moves are not the most important thing in exotic dancing; attitude is your best weapon! You need to feel sexy to look sexy, and this DVD constantly reminds you that exotic dancing is not about mastering the move to the letter, but making it your own, and being able to execute a move that makes you feel sexy. If the moves come unnaturally to you, or you are not able to do them because of physical limitations, the instructor tells you to use what WILL work for you instead. The disc also stresses the importance (and sexiness!) of techniques like tracing your own curves and eye contact.
Interspersed throughout the teaching sessions are interviews with the students, explaining how they felt about performing the moves, how they overcame their inhibitions, and how they made the moves work for them.
The extra features include profiles of the students, music selection, behind the scenes footage and a video, and a demo dance.
The DVD is not of the highest quality--no fancy sets or props, and the students and instructor really do look like real people. The music is a little cheesy, but since it is not a dance tape it is more of a background music and I did not find it particularly intrusive. Overall, I think this is a great DVD for building confidence, and teaching that sexy is an attitude above everything else. It would be nice if it had had more dance moves and routines, but since it is geared toward the total beginner, I believe it succeeds in what it sets out to do--teach core moves and how to feel sexy performing them!

I move like an overweight suburban housewife, but my husband still wants me to strip for him. I'll try just about anything. 'Nuff said.

Thank you for viewing The Art of Exotic Dancing For Everyday Women – instructional video review page!
I'm a dancer so I know how to move my body but the one thing I cannot do is perform a strip tease for my husband. I mean it's ridiculous I can try and have tried every bloody other thing out there with him but this he desperately wants and I'm obsessively shy about it. Argh!
