Tristan Taormino's "Rough Sex" : a meditation on Sex-Positivity in these Trying Times
Taormino's "Rough Sex" is the product of an empowered woman searching to empower her performers (and by extension, her viewers), with the well-meaning strategy of consensual and informed rough sex. Interviews abound in this two and a half hour long feature. Somehow though, the lack of tension and high-stakes in this well-intentioned film dooms it to a rather predictable, over-thought death.

Pros
Well-shot, intelligent, attractive performers, respectful, thoughtful.
Cons
For those who like their rough sex emotionally naked, this movie may come up short.

Thank you for viewing Tristan Taormino's Rough Sex – erotic novel review page!
I think that what's valuable about the gonzo films is hard to pin down, and I may not have done the best job in writing about them, either. It's like, in the best of them, the filmmakers are so UNGUARDED. Almost sociopathically so. There's a part of me that is fascinated to watch that process unfold, though in my heart I know it's also an acknowledgement or even a tacit approval of a damaging, frightening aspect of the human experience.
My only problem with Taormino's film was that it felt a bit over-sanitized (except for Francesca Le, who was as wild as hell, and Derrick Pierce, who "went there" himself). Thanks so much for your thoughts . . . I'd be curious to hear what you think of the film when you get a chance to watch it!
I just finished the movie, and I'm working on my own review. It will be up soon.
A few comparisons to other movies is fine, even welcomed for some one like me, but your info on the actual movie you were given to review stopped half way through your rant about other " rough sex" porn.
Don't get me wrong, I love your writing. If I were reading your blogs I would not have had any thing critical to say. I know that you are a writer and, having been in a five year relationship with one, I completely understand how you can easily get carried away with words.
