Please Stop, Ma'am.

I'm giving this book a 3 because I'm fairly ambivalent about the book. I didn't like it that much, but the writing was good. There's nothing WRONG with the book, it was simply not a turn-on.

Please, Ma'am is an anthology of BDSM stories that are told strictly from the male perspective. This is a collection of 18 short stories that run the gamut from submission to slavery. I had thought that this book would be very interesting and appealing for me because I am the dominant party in my relationship. I thought that it would excite me to see and "hear" how other men thought and felt during their submission; however, I found this book to be extremely difficult to relate to. I did not like hearing the male perspective in this book at all. I found this to be a little disconcerting because I really enjoyed Please, Sir; which is all told from the female submissive's point of view, and I'm not interested in being submissive so I am surprised, at best, at my dislike of this book.

The stories are all fairly well-written. It's published by Cleis Press who seems to be the leading publisher for erotica, as nearly every book I have has been published by them. The cover dons a leather-clad lady on the front, so I would not call it discreet at all. The book, itself, is bound well as a paperback book. As far as structural integrity, there was absolutely nothing wrong with this book.

I wish I could get into the details of the stories more, but to be completely frank, I couldn't get into the stories enough to even muddle through them. I tried to get Mr to read the book as well so that I could, maybe, write the review completely from his perspective. He also couldn't get into this book much. He did say that he enjoyed a story or two, but he now cannot remember which ones.

I hate to give an anthology such a negative review. As a writer of erotic fiction, I have a lot of respect for the authors who put their energies into creating works that audiences enjoy. For me, personally, the subject matter simply did not appeal. However, if you're remotely interested in the subject matter, I highly recommend getting your hands on this book because the authors do a very good job. It simply wasn't my cup of tea at the tea party for one-handed readers.
