Paranormally Good!
Lesbian erotica can get repetitive and boring for me, mostly because I am not lesbian or even bi-sexual. This book, however, is more about the story than the sex and the sex is smoking hot! Fans of paranormal fiction will not be left wanting and neither will fans of erotic fiction. All around great book.

Sheshifters Lesbian Paranormal Erotica edited by Delilah Devlin brings together some of Cleiss Press's most phenomenal writers who delve into both lesbian and paranormal erotica. They blend the two into a seamless story that left this reviewer hungering for more. I am very hetero in my sexual persuasions but I never felt like I was being left out because these stories are so very well written! I was able to surrender my own preferences and see the extreme eroticism in the coupling of a woman and a shifter who also happened to be a woman.
Unlike other anthologies I have read, I did not find myself reading the same sort of encounters over and over in each of the successive stories. I found the language in each story to be fresh and intriguing no matter how many stories I read in one sitting. The real problem was I found these stories to be so erotic that I had to stop reading long before I really wanted to because I was too aroused to continue, or completely satisfied and left in a quiet contemplative mood.
There is also included in this book a foreword by Kate Douglas the author of Wolf Tales. The foreword is sweet and a great introduction to the theme of the book. She doesn't reveal much about what's to come leaving that job to Delilah Devlin.
There are 16 writers in this book: Paisley Smith, Anna Meadows, J.L. Merrow, Angela Caperton, Christine D'Abo,
Michael M. Jones, Adele Dubois, Karis Walsh, Giselle Renarde, Myla Jackson, Sacchi Green, Victoria Olham, Tahira Iqbal, Chris Kouju, and Delilah Devlin. There is also a nice little biography at the back of the book with a little blurb and some information about where to learn more about each author. The editor also has her page to finish up the book.
Have you ever had a dream so vivid and so persistent that you feel you just have to follow it even if it means going half way round the world? The heroine in Paisley Smith's The Night Crow finds herself caught in a desire so deep and bone shaking that she flies to London following it. What she found there brought a smile to my face and satisfied the romantic and fantasy lover in me.
Verde by Anna Meadows is a strange tale woven of lore borrowed and created in the mind of the author. It weaves a story of barrenness that through the kindness and innate generosity of spirit of one woman, becomes a lush tale of love and the breaking of curses.
I have had dreams like Sweetwater Pass by Angela Caperton! A tale of being different and trying to fit in only to be driven out time and again. When finally our heroine finds her mate she is torn but resolute. In the end the reader is left to finish the tale, however he/she wishes. This was one of my favorite stories and I've read it many times!
Micheal M. Jones treats us to a lovely vision of love and bridging of cultural difference in Thwarting The Spirits. In it two women are spun up in a web of curse that leaves them pitted against each other in a fight to the death. They decide to break the curse even though it could mean utter destruction of them both.
Purrfect In Venezia by Myla Jackson is a lovely and deceptively simple tale about a woman who receives a family heirloom from a grandmother. Her grandmother asks that Natalie remembers to "follow her heart". What happens next is a lovely tale of love and choice.
Imagine sitting on a beach daydreaming when the most beautiful creature you have ever seen comes out of the ocean in front of you. In All Colors Of The Sun by Victoria Oldham spins a new take on the old tale of the phoenix.
For a beautiful take on the tried and true werewolf tale we are offered Tahira Iqbal's The Handler. This was one short story that I would LOVE to see expanded into a full on novel or, better yet, a series of novels!
All in all, even though the theme was lesbian erotica I wasn't left wishing for some different types of sex. The descriptions in the stories were lush and amazing. This is a book that left me wanting to curl up with a good drink and a roaring fire while I watch the full moon call to my brethren...or something like that!
The cover is fairly safe for work though the title is easily read from a distance. All of the stories are easily read in one sitting and it makes a great bedtime story type of read.

I love paranormal stories, and it's hard to find good lesbian or gay erotica that incorporates shape-shifting elements. This one is going on my wishlist for sure!
