I love reading reclaimed fairy tales and 'Fairy Tale Lust,' edited by our own Kristina Wright, is an excellent example of what I like in a sexy fairy tale book.
The book contains 18 reclaimed tales, sometimes very loosely based on recognizable childhood favorites, by various artists. The book has a foreword written by Angela Knight which whets the appetite and prepares the reader for the journey he/she is about to embark on. There is a short blurb about each of the authors at the end of the book which usually contains such information as website addresses, and a short list of other works by the author and a maybe a bit about what their other hobbies are.
From the first story of the book the reader is grasped by the loins and dragged into the world of fairy tales that sizzle. 'The Obedient Wife' by Delilah Devlin recounts the trials of a lusty wench and her determined father. The compromises she makes to remain 'pure' are a joy to read.
I really loved the tale, 'How The Little Mermaid Got Her Tail Back' by Andrea Dale. It is a lovely recounting of how a broken woman regains her power and womanhood through the love of a special man. Truly a special tale.
'Three Times' by Justine Elyot recounts an unusual twist on the Sleeping Beauty Tale. In this version the Princess has been imprisoned by the vines instead of surrounded by them. The waking of the sleeping beauty is a twist worth reading, again and again! In yet another twist on the Sleeping Beauty tale, 'Sleep Tight' by Janine Ashbless the sleeping beauty is a bit more threatening than our usual damsel.
'Frosted Glass' by Aurelia T. Evans is a strange tale of loss and sorrow and 'The Gingerbread Man' by Carol Hassler recounts the heart's cry of anyone who has ever lost a loved one. It is the very definition of a fairy tale.
I loved the remake of the fairy godmother in the story 'All In A Day's Work' by Saskia Walker in which our fairy godmother gives her charge EXACTLY what he is wanting and needing. His secretary is pretty happy with the outcome as well!
All in all though there were a few stories that I really couldn't understand the author's intent this was a really fun and erotic book that should appeal to the child in all of us, while titillating and entertaining the adult at the same time.
The cover art is beautiful and fairly discreet. It features a couple in an erotic embrace and though it is obvious the woman is naked to the waist she is turned so that you only see the lovely expanse of her back. The title 'Fairy Tale Lust' is written in red script across the black and white photo of the couple. While it may not be 100% safe for work it is certainly not going to raise eyebrows if it is sitting on your bedside table or coffee table.

Follow-up commentary

Can you put a price on a book that just invites you to curl up and read it just one more time? This book has re-read value in spades. It sits more often on y bedside table than it does on my book shelf.
Even after all this time I STILL use the stories as a jumping of point for some erotic daydreaming before bed.
