Lessons from a Dom Queen
I was pleasantly surprised with this book; it had so much information in it, and I adored that straight from the beginning there was so much emphasis on safety. This book is great for beginners in that she covers everything from communication basics to the types of rope, as well as types of bondage, but it can also be a bit confusing for those brand new to bondage.

Pros
Lots of pictures, short steps, lots of safety info
Cons
Can be confusing the first time through if you have no experience
In many ways this is a great book for people that have never attempted rope bondage before. Organized in a simple read-as-you-go sort of fashion the book starts with a basic intro, then goes into materials and safety precautions, followed by step by step instructions on how to tie. At the end she provides a list of resources for further inquiry.
The single best thing about this book for me is that it is written by someone who actually knows what they are talking about. When it comes to sex and sexuality, there are a lot of self-appointed experts out there who think they are qualified enough to teach others. Chanta Rose actually is!! She's been in the scene for years and started out as a fetish model and the girl who gets tied up, but now she is only doing the rigging. Her experience as both the tied-up and the person doing the tying give a great perspective. She brings considerations to light that those who have not done both roles would be unable to provide. Chanta Rose does workshops too, so she knows how to concisely give direction, making the book easy to read.
After going over the basics like simple knots and finishing off ties for safety, the book comes to the actual positions and their variations. Each section will start with a photo of what the tie looks like when completed, and then goes step by step from the very beginning. There are pictures every step of the way so you know if you are doing it correctly, and have a model to follow. Each instruction is very short, no more than a few sentences. The pictures throughout are stunning- all full color and completely gorgeous. While there is nudity, it is all very tasteful. The photography in this book alone makes it worth the purchase.
My only issue with the book is that it does get a bit confusing at first if you have never done any rope play before. I bought this book with no previous experience; this was going to be my introduction. It is definitely useful to have a piece of rope with you while you work through the steps. Just reading alone made it hard to understand what she was talking about, but a quick once or twice through with some rope and I was ready to try playing with a partner. She makes it really easy to understand, and takes all the intimidation away.
