I wanted to know what all the hype was about so sue me.
Again I am going back to the hype that this caused... Clearly everyone, weather they admit it or not is infatuated by SEX. And Sex sells big time. So this woman wrote a story about crazy wild lovely sex and got published, I honestly think its awesome. Just wish it was written better. I give it a 4 of 5 because the first is my favorite so far.
Published:
Pros
great sex, great story.
Cons
poorly written.
Since my sister, my SO and every television station/radio station in the world is all "Have you heard/read Fifty Shades of Grey??", when my SO finished her copy I picked it up.
The Plot is generally a girl meets boy (since she fell into his office), girl loves boy, boy has major issues. When I read this book I really thought that two teenage girls got together to create a "dream guy" because honestly who can text their girlfriend all day and still be a billionaire (not million but billionaire)? A pilot, concert pianist, tall, dark and handsome, oh yeah, and the best lover on the planet all at the ripe age of 26, and come up with Christian Grey. Whew, I wish it was all that easy. But he never works, he's always going to meetings or talking to people on the phone -that's it. No actually work, I mean that’s just so unrealistic. As for Ana Steele, She is a virgin who has never so much as touched herself in exploration who gets thrown (so to say) into a BDSM relationship. But, I guess that's what attracts readers to her as a romantic heroine. That she got through it and she made it work. And that’s all well and good but honestly how long will it last, we will just have to find out.
MS. James is all about the repetition...and the repetition...and the repetition. Now I'm not here to hate I think that if anyone has the guts to put pen to paper and make a bestseller that's awesome. But I wish she would have used a little less of the grades k-8 words/phrases in her story and made it more like a 20-40 year old... I don't know that’s just me. I just can't get passed how poorly written it was, but I will say that I did read 1 & 2, even though it was written so poorly, the story grabs you. And you actually feel for them as a couple.
I know why this caused such hype. SEX. And it did have great sex in deed. But that was really it. A good story line and great sex...

I am glad that this book set was written. I think that in such a bad time in life (at least for us) it helped to get our gears moving. So I am glad that we own it.
