How-to: Massage a Partner
My experiences with this book lead to a neutral response. While our massage skills did seem to improve, the massages were relaxing, not arousing.

Pros
Offers good suggestions on how to give a massage.
Cons
Lack of diversity in photos, too much "fluff".
Erotic Massage for Lovers: Sensual Touch for Intimacy & Orgasmic Pleasure offers tips and how-to knowledge on ways to massage your lover. Along with advice on how to maximize the arousal through different textures, scents and positions. It has several chapters which include water/bathing massage, pleasure zones, teasing, arousing, different massage poses, a complete massage sequence from head to toe, and calming techniques for after your lover gets aroused and hot sex ensues.
I was let down a little by this book. It could be that I set my expectations high for it. I didn’t find the tips offered all that much different from what I’m used to when giving massages, both to relax and to arouse in the past. I was also disappointed in the photos and personality of the photos and writing. The photos were great in showing the techniques, but only had white, hairless, heterosexual couples. This very much surprised me given the overall tone of the writing, which seemed to randomly focus on new-age/ancient-sex-wisdom to appease someone. I am not sure who. It basically felt like "fluff" to us.
An excerpt that we didn’t find helpful or adding to the massage: “Kundalini is the supreme energy that lies coiled at the very base of the spine. When it is awakened it ascends through the body, awakening and recharging the vital psychic bodies, illuminating the brain and leading to heightened awareness.”
My husband tried massaging the area outlined on the Kundlaini on me before I read the book. I had him read the book first and try several things he thought looked good, on me before I read the book. This allowed us to see if what the book said we would accomplish would really happen. I guess it felt nice, but I am pretty sure I was no more aware and illuminated than I usually am. It was “information” like this that we felt detracted from our experience in reading this book. Overall my experience with him massaging me was very relaxing and did feel nice but it didn’t arouse me, which was a little weird since I was already a little aroused before we even started.
Overall, I am neutral towards this book. If I had to go back and purchase this book, I probably wouldn’t. It did help my husband’s back massage skills, which is a very good thing, but it wasn’t overly erotic to us. I guess this book would be useful to people who have never tried to give a massage in earnest and it does offer tips for couples that perhaps they might not have stumbled upon previously, so in that way it could be helpful.

Good review. I loved your excerpt. Well, not the excerpt itself because.. WTF. But your inclusion was good!
