Hilarious... just hilarious
This 343 page book will keep you entertained as you learn about Ron Jeremy's life and how porn movies are made with a few sex tips thrown in along the way. I only wish it were twice as long or that there were a sequel. Its a thoroughly enjoyable read from start to finish.

Pros
Funny, informative
Cons
many footnotes
Are you a Ron Jeremy fan? Enjoy humorously written biographies? Want to learn a bit about how porn movies are made and how that has changed over time? This is the book for you.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I don't think there was a single session I spent reading it where I didn't laugh out loud. I believe Ron Jeremy would be a highly entertaining dinner guest. I can see why he sometimes does stand up comedy. By the way, he's also a classically trained pianist and certified special education teacher.
The book starts with stories from his childhood and his first adventures in dating. It then moves on to how he got started in porn. Once you reach the point in the book where he's established in the porn industry, his stories often involve famous people. I almost have the sense that there's a bit of insecurity under all that humor and success. Maybe the name dropping is necessary however since many of the funny stories of the book involve well known people. He doesn't just list the famous people he's met. He tells stories of his humorous interactions with them. There are also several sections with pages of photos of Ron posing with various celebrities.
An example celebrity story is a hotel stay where he was besieged with calls from young women asking for Joey Fatone, a metal rocker who was using Ron's name during a tour to disguise his identity. The ruse would have worked if the real Ron Jeremy hadn't been staying at the same hotel. To complicate matters, Joey received several of Ron's messages. Good natured as Ron appears to always be, at least in this book, he leaves Joey a photo and note thanking him for all the young women who were seeking him out and wishing him well. He signed the note 'the Real Ron Jeremy' and ended it with the note "Please call Michelle in Alberta. It sounded important."
One slightly irritating aspect of the book, although I don't know that it can be helped, is that there are footnotes on about a third of the pages. He has numerous funny side stories to tell about the already humorous tales in his book.
There are also four sections where he divulges lessons to his audience. These are called "Sex Advice from Dr. Ron Jeremy" and cover the topics:
-Sexual Hygiene (Ron's technique for cleaning your penis after sex, a technique he credits for his very low STD rate)
-Anal Sex (How to introduce a woman to it and how to do it with little risk of mess)
-The Grip (How to hold your penis if you're having trouble getting a full erection)
-How to Make Love Like a Porn Star
The last one is at the end of the book. It alludes to the title of Jenna Jameson's book but instead of being tips on how to have great sex, its a realistic description of the ways that sex for porn is tiring, difficult and sometimes more grueling than pleasurable. In several earlier chapters he tells of problems during the making of multiple porn movies so we already have some idea about this.
He doesn't shy away from stories or topics that make himself look bad either. So apparently he's not insecure. He covers the fact that he's let himself go and that he's only been marginally successful in obtaining parts in mainstream movies. Legitimate acting was his original career goal.
Appendix A is titled Ron Jeremy Fun Facts. Its a two page list which includes tidbits such as:
Number of porn films: 1750 (a world record)
Number of porn films in which Ron shaved his back: 1500
Average age at which porn stars retire: 36
The book also covers the reasons for his success in porn - not just his size, but his willingness to travel anywhere for any movie or event and the excellent control he has over his orgasms.
Honestly if you have any interest in Ron Jeremy or even if you don't but you just enjoy humorous stories, I recommend this highly enjoyable book.
