Great General Overview
This book is an excellent starting point for learning to become an excellent lover. The book is frankly written, research based, and very thorough in exploring and explaining common questions and issues. I would recommend it, though with a warning about the plethora of naked sex photos.

This would be a great book to read through as a couple, doing the experiments and homework assignments along the way. The book seems to be about 50% instruction/information, and 50% ideas/techniques/assignments. I wish I'd found it earlier, it answers a lot of questions that other overall guides did't touch for one reason or another. You can see from the table of contents that the book touches on a wide variety of sexual experiences and techniques. The trade off for this wide picture is that they don't dwell much on each topic. So if you are a sexually experienced individual, you might not benefit as much from this book as one who is at the beginning of learning and exploring sexually. From here, you could branch out into other books that focus in on the areas you want to learn more about. For example, Chapter 7 is about oral sex. It is 10 pages, half of which are photos. The information provides an excellent starting point. It will give the basic why's and how's of oral sex, including specific assignments. Once you have mastered that, if you would like to go on you can get a book specific to oral sex. Or positions, or anal sex, etc. Bottom line - this book does a great job of touching on a wide variety of sexual practices to explore in.

Experience
I was a bit turned off originally by the sheer amount of large photographs of couples having sex. I don't frequently encounter pictures of bare-breasted women, so seeing so many perky nipples while reading was disconcerting. I really appreciated the clear, concise content though, so that redeemed the book in my conservative eyes. The techniques and assignments give simple, clear instructions that absolutely improve not only sex, but also your relationship. I also really liked that the tips presented are based in research. So the chapter on increasing libido gives practical advice founded in scientific studies. Eat a healthy diet, get 30 minutes of exercise each day, relax and release your stress and tension, etc. I also found the answers to several of my personal concerns/curiosities. Is it true a woman's sexual peak is in her 30's? What if I am with someone I am not sexually compatible with? Do toys cause a gradual desensitizing of the clitoris?

Thanks for the review, I could see how some nude pics would be a con but it doesn't bother me

Not useful at all, really? Well, I tried anyway.
-
So does using sex toys desensitize the clitoris?
-
Only temporarily, goes away within a few hours.

Thank you for talking about the photos and illustrations. I'm one that likes to stray away from books that are much more than just text. So, I think I'll be passing on this one. Thank you!
