Overall the books were good the first time, kinda boring the second time. The more erotica I read the more tame this came across. I would recommend reading all of the books (partly because it's part of pop culture now), but don't buy them.
Published:
Pros
It was a very easy, entertaining read.
Cons
Better erotic writing and deeper story lines.
I have read and reread all three "Fifty Shades" books. The third and final installment is definitely the mildest, if you will, of all of the books. It focuses more on the love between Anna and Christian than on the Sub/Dom part of the relationship. It also opens up Christian's past and what exactly makes him tick. You also get to know his family, and their friends better.
I did have a hard time with the situations the leading couple found themselves in (that kind of stuff doesn't happen to real people). Christian is supposed to be a multi-millionaire but he never works; he is either emailing Anna or chasing her around Seattle. The story line was also a bit predictable.
I admit the first time I read the series I was turned on and was even curious about BDSM. But the writing was a bit soft for all the buzz the books were getting. The author didn't even use the proper vocabulary for the human anatomy; it was a lot of her "being touched on her sex"; I mean we are adults reading this you can say vagina! And they had orgasms whenever they were in the same room!! For Anna being a virgin at the beginning of the series it sure didn't take her long to become comfortable with her sexuality. The author plays her as shy and meek, but when I was new to the joys of sex, I would not have been so comfortable with their sexcapades; from being so open minded to the BDSM,to letting herself vulnerable enough to let him undress and bathe her. It took me along time being with men to be comfortable enough in my skin for that kind of intimacy.
All in all the book was an easy, entertaining read. I will probably read it again (just because I own them and don't mind a re-read), but there are definitely better erotic books out there. Go to the library or borrow from a friend, don't waste your money.
But I gotta see the movie!!!
