For Other Tastes
While Tasting Him contains a wide variety of stories and is generally well written, I find it hard to recommend as there were only stories two that I really enjoyed. If you like men to take charge or are into kink, you will probably want to look elsewhere. As an avid fan of fellatio, I was hoping to enjoy this collection of stories a lot more than I did.
Published:
Pros
Lots of stories, manages to be varied despite the common theme, well written
Cons
Lack of male assertiveness, not enough BDSM, some off-putting stories
Tasting Him: Oral Sex Stories, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, contains 23 short stories with the theme of fellatio. The book includes an introduction by the editor entitled The Power and Pleasure of Cocksucking and mini biographies of the authors. Physically, the book is slightly larger than a typical paperback and 184 pages long. Stories are 3-9 pages long.
The stories:
Gloss by Rachel Kramer Bussel - A woman needs someone to satisfy her oral desires.
A Treatise on Human Nature by Robert Peregrine - A bisexual man teaches a woman how to give good head.
Quite a Mouthful: Confessions of a Sweet Cocksucker by Tish Anderson - A woman learns to enjoy swallowing.
This Just In by Heidi Champa - The partner of a news reader has her fantasy come true.
Blessed Benediction by Radclyffe - Shelby has an audience.
How I Learned to Give Good Head by Amanda Earl - Stephen knows what he wants.
Without Eyes by Terri Pray - A dominant man reminds his submissive wife of her place.
Tony Tempo by Tsaurah Litzky - An old trumpeter fancies the new nurse.
A Tongue is Just a Tongue by Michelle Robinson - Three isn't always a crowd.
It's a Wonderful Blow Job by Simon Sheppard - Being "the other woman" has its appeal.
Down on the Beach by Alessa Brio - Chloe hasn't seen Jack for months.
Getting Used to It by Tenille Brown - Making brisket isn't the only thing she's good at.
Cocksucker by Lori Selke - She straps it on for her man.
Prego by Alison Tyler - Spaghetti sauce and a blow job make for a good combination.
Equanimity Unbound by Craig J. Sorensen - An uptight and rather shy man is intrigued by a gothic girl.
Fellatio: A Love Story by Scarlett French - A woman overcomes her negativity about blow jobs.
Logic by Jacqueline Applebee - Sometimes you need a friend's advice.
Frosted by Kristina Wright - Kelly loves cream cheese frosting.
Long Relief by T. Hitman - Colin wakes up to a mouth around his cock.
Open Wide by Marina Saint - A woman reminisces about sucking her husband off at the movies.
Sketch of a Suck-Off by Thomas S. Roche - The camera is rolling.
Sculpted by Shanna Germain - A clone-a-willy kit and a strap-on harness lead to an interesting experience.
After Dinner Mint by Donna George Storey - Mint makes everything better.
I found a lot of the stories enjoyable to read though not necessarily arousing. To me, the book is something I'd imagine being recommended to people who can't understand why a woman would enjoy giving oral sex, or to those that think all blow jobs are the same and therefore boring. The women in these stories absolutely love giving head and the variety of genders, orientations, locations and scenarios keeps it interesting.
I was hoping that more of the stories would be male-directed. Instead, the book in general was very "we are women and we take what we want!" in tone. The stories that did feature more assertive males were ruined for me by the use of pet names or spaghetti sauce. Some reviewers seemed to enjoy Prego and the other food stories, but mixing food with oral isn't my thing. At all. I was also hoping for more BDSM related stories, but there were only two. Annoying and corny vocabulary was kept to a minimum, though I did notice "sex" being used as a noun at least once. "Cunt" was extremely common. I don't mind the word, but if you do I would avoid this book.
Stand outs for me were This Just In and Quite a Mouthful. The premise of the former was brilliant - hell, if my partner was a news reader I'd be fantasizing about sucking him off under the table too. You really got a sense of how big a fantasy this was for the female character and it was extremely hot having him read the news while she did her thing. Quite a Mouthful appealed to me because it contained everything that I like - spanking, bondage and blow jobs. It would have been a little better if there had been more dirty talk coming from the male, but as the story was in past tense, dialogue wasn't focused on much.
With 23 different stories, if you enjoy blow jobs you should be able to come across something enjoyable, but with so many stories there will probably be ones that you dislike too. Read the overviews, see if the stories sound enjoyable and decide if you think it is worth it. I am notoriously fussy with erotica, but this may be more your thing.
