For all the curious fists out there
A good book to give you more information about vaginal fisting and get you and your partner on the same page before giving it a try. It is well written and done in a way that makes it easy to finish. Overall I enjoyed reading this book and learning from it.

A little too much of the author's experience weaved in throughout the book
For anyone curious about vaginal fisting, whether as the person being fisted (the "fistee") or as the person doing the fisting (the "fister"), "A Hand in the Bush" by Deborah Addington is a good beginners guide. It answers some of the important questions that most people have about this sexual activity and also gives some instructions about insertion and removal of a fist. The author gives basic information and also includes a lot of comments about her personal experience as well as some humor which keeps this book from being a dry read.
The book, although fairly short at 103 pages, is separated into different sections. There is a section about the author and an introduction telling you what the book is about. After this is the first chapter which is "A Fisting FAQ". There are some basic questions such as is fisting dangerous? What does it feel like? and also questions about who can and can't be fisted (i.e medical reasons). This section was good at handling the things that had popped into my mind when I first became curious about trying this. The second chapter is "A cunt owner's manual" which gives information about how it is important to explore your body and things like that. In the third section, entitled "Anatomically correct", the author gives a guided tour of the female genital region with illustrations included. The forth chapter is about safety during fisting. One thing that scared me a little when I first opened this book is that there was a little warming about how fisting could lead to injury and possibly death, but I think that is a disclaimer just in case. Also, if you take the correct precautions and preparations then everything should be just fine. She talks a lot about lubricant (which is a must for fisting!) in this section and also about safe sex practices such as wearing gloves to prevent scratching. In regards to preparing for fisting this is an important chapter in my opinion.
The next section is called "Fisting: The Adventure" and this is where we get the run down on the actual steps that should be taken when going about fisting someone. I found that this section was written more with the "fister" in mind. There is a lot to take into consideration in order to try to ensure a pleasurable experience for both people. As this author says "fisting is not something done to a woman, but done with a woman". I like that quote and after reading this book and this particular section I really feel like I would have to completely trust my partner in order for us to try fisting. There are also illustrations that show different positions and close ups on the steps to being able to get an entire fist in and out of the vagina.
Toward the end of the book there are smaller sections about ejaculation during fisting, self-fisting, the dangers of drugs and alcohol during fisting, and when there might be a problem from fisting. There is also a section called "Other Voices: A cunt lover's chorus" that contains poems and accounts from those who tried fisting either as the "fister" or the "fistee" which are not all that educational but are still interesting to read.

Experience
I got this book because I have recently become curious about vaginal fisting. Although I am not sure about when I will give this a try I wanted to get some more information. I found this book to be an easy read (it only took me a day to finish it) and it also helped me evaluate how I felt about the subject. I had mixed feelings about so much of the author's own experiences being mixed in with the information because we can obviously tell that she enjoys fisting, so this is not an objective opinion. One thing that I wasn't expecting, but still appreciated was the attention to the emotional component of fisting that the author emphasized. Fisting involves a large emotional commitment from both partners.
I read this one in my room because the cover is not really discreet with the fist that covers the female genitals and the somewhat cutoff breasts.
Overall, I am glad that I ordered this book because I feel like I am now equipped with a little more information and a new curiosity to experiment with self-fisting.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
Nothing has changed about how helpful I find this book. It is a good resource for fisting and when I finally find a partner to practice this with I know it will help things. As I mentioned in my original review, this book is good for those who are curious about being fisted or about fisting a partner.
