Enjoyable, but violence makes me queasy
I enjoy the psychological aspects of male dominance, but the physicality makes me a bit queasy. You know what I mean: the paddles, the whips, the chains, the canes. BDSM fetishists will argue that this is what makes BDSM erotica its finest, but I personally don't enjoy it. I will say the stories are well-written and arousing as any good erotica should be, but the hardcore scenes in this collection just aren't for me.
Published:

Still have this one on my erotica shelf. I'm getting more and more acquainted with the BDSM genre and find myself enjoying it more each time!

Thank you for viewing Please, Sir – book discontinued review page!
I'm sorry it wasn't to your taste. Bondage and Discipline isn't for everyone. I actually find Rachel Kramer Bussel's collections a lot "softer core" than editors I favor more, like Violet Blue and Alison Tyler. So much in fact, that I have started to steer away from her work. Too much mushy stuff for me.
But, to each their own.
Some specifics of some of the better stories, with a few plot lines, not just direct quotes, would help people decide if they would like this collection.
I also mention the authors in a collection, because many of us have our favorites, like Alison Tyler, Emerald, Thomas Roche, Shanna Germain etc in my reviews of collected stories.
I think book reviews are some of the hardest to do. Read the reviews of this and other books of collected stories to get an idea of how to do a really helpful book review.
Keep on writing.
I'm sure you don't mean to sound condescending, but your comment makes me wonder if you (and most other consumers) truly know what a review is.
A book review does not summarize the plot of the book, or in this case, the plots of the stories featured in the anthology. Book reviews are meant to tell an audience whether or not the book was worth reading, and why. If I wanted to write down what happened in a book for all the world to view, I would make a career out of writing book synopses.
I tend to take book reviews on a more personal matter. If I do not completely enjoy the book, it's probably a result of my personal preferences, which I am entitled to express. Book reviews are not book promotions; they are opinions, and opinions have a gosh-darn-annoying tendency to differ. If you enjoy the content of the fetishism found in books such as "Please, Sir", I cannot and will not argue. Maybe you take more pleasure in BDSM than I do. We're not one and the same, and therefore cannot expect to enjoy the same things.
Also, please note I do not say "Please, Sir" is a bad anthology or a poorly-written one. I merely explain that it does not quite fit my palate and how come. Funny you mention I should look at other reviews for this book, because I'm not particularly interested in finding another voice; I don't want another technique. I want to display my opinions, not those of others, and if you as a fellow reviewer cannot tolerate this, then I am at a loss.
I'm not saying you should have rated my review as "really useful" either. Like I said, everyone has their own opinions. But considering I maintain a review blog (rather than only holding a position as a reviewer on Edenfantasys) and continue being sponsored and receive requests from publishers and authors alike, it means means someone out there finds value in my thoughts, right? Thanks for letting me know your own
