Empowering Feminist Literature
A great read for feminists, may bring you around to feminism if you aren't already there. However, it also reads a little bit like a rant, which may turn you off.

Pros
Empowering, Engaging.
Cons
Graphic, profanity, could use more definite examples.
Let me start out by saying that I loved this book. I am sucker for feminist readings, and I couldn't resist the title. The ability to reclaim a word used in such a derogatory manner against women is something I really value, and it was the primary reason I picked up this book to begin with.
My favorite review of this book was from Bust, and I think they summed up exactly why I loved it so much. They wrote that the book was, "At its core . . . a metaphor for unconditional self-love, a gentle call for women to embrace all things sacred and essentially female. And that’s not just lip service. Cunt does for feminism what smoothies did for high-fiber diets — it reinvents the oft-indigestible into something sweet and delicious."
I left the book feeling empowered to reclaim cunt, to be a feminist, and to spread the word. I think that this is the most important thing you can expect after reading. However, the book wasn't perfect. It certainly wasn't the best piece of feminist literature I have ever come across. Without giving away the actual contents of the book, I do think it's important to point out that there isn't much actual discussion between competing viewpoints. It is a little biased. I also thought it could use more discussion around facts. There were a lot of interesting ideas but not enough backed up with examples and statistics.
The writing was interesting. It read much like a rant, which isn't something I find particularly endearing in a book. It did contribute to the idea of the book being more of a manifesto than a piece of literature. The voice was certainly very strong.
I must point out that one thing I really love about this book is the cover design. It is so clever and eye catching. The only way to put "Cunt" on a cover is to put it up against a simple background like this. I applaud the artist for good design.

I still feel that there are better books out there, but this is worth the read. Since "Cunt" is kind of a mandatory feminist text, even if you aren't into this particular kind of feminism, there is something to be learned from it.
