Eco-Scary

"Eco-Sex", while not focused on sex, gives a break-down of all sorts of environmental issues with the regular products you use. It borders a bit on being scary, but the sex chapters do provide some good information about being sex-safe with your choice of materials.
Published:
Pros
Gives materials to avoid, Hard to put it down, Great resource for environmentalists
Cons
Written in a scary manner, Too many product recommendations, Not sex-focused

extremely useful review
Follow-up commentary
I'm still not fond of this book - it just doesn't focus much on the "sex" part. But if you need a book that can give you ideas about environmentally-friendly-ing your sex life, this is one of the only ones I know about.

Interesting. May have to check it out.

This sounds like one of those books that's just trying to capitalize on "Green" being the buzzword of the moment. When you think about it, things like condoms, and even most non-surgical forms of birth control, aren't exactly eco-friendly. But they're totally necessary as part of a responsible sex life for a lot of people.

@leela- Considering the eco-footprint each human has, I'd say any method of birth control is more environmentally friendly than having another human on Earth

Great review, Kayla. I've been interested in this book, and your review certainly helped me in my decision on whether to get it.

Thanks for the review. It does sounds heavy in scare tactics. I don't think I will get it.

I once heard a lecture by Bruce Ames, inventor of the Ames assay to determine how carcinogenic things are. He emphasized how almost everything we eat, if eaten in large enough quantities, is carcinogenic. In fact one of his slides just said

    EAT DIE

I dislike books that take a paranoid stance, esp. if they don't give a sizable enough range of alternatives. I'm not sure I would like this book.

    Excellent review.

Oh yeah, that is a very good point Vaccinium.

I won't be buying this book or any carbon credits. Thanks for the review!

I am really not into scare tactics, especially when it comes to sex. We have enough taboos already, right? That said, I am interested in environmental impact / making products that are more enviro-friendly..... This book isn't for me, but I'd love to find a better one on the same subject matter.

    Thanks for the review!

Great review! Too bad the book was so disappointing; the whole 'green' thing be a really interesting topic.

Excellent review. I'm not a fan of scary tactics, but on the over hand I doubt there are to many books on this topic, so it at least nice to see one on it.

    Haha. I love this review.

I love this review! I had thought about buying the book, but since I'm already reading a bunch of 'scare-tactic-eco-friendly-you-need-to-change-your-life-NOW" I'll take a pass.

If I had bought the book having read the review I'm sure I would have been disappointed! Thank you for this!
