Darker and Better!
Better the second time around, if that is even possible! Book two starts up where Fifty Shades of Grey left off. This installment was an amazing journey of two people, especially the journey for Christian. He has progressed so far as a man and it truly is because of the love he has for Ana. This series is so much more than erotica, it's a great love story! For me, this book is about as close to perfect as it gets.

Some suspense

Cons
Sex scenes are boring
Fifty Shades Darker drew me in and kept me captivated just as well as the first book. This book focuses more upon the evolution of Christian and Ana’s relationship. You can definitely see some changes in Christian in book two. Christian pretty much does a 180 and shifts his needs and personality. You get to see his sweet side that you started seeing at the end of book one. We're also introduced to Ana's new job at a publishing company, and her new boss Jack Hyde. I noticed that book two was less dramatic but there was a lot more suspense added in with some crazy ex-girlfriend drama. In book two the sex seemed to get so repetitive that it started to get boring. Even Ana was wanting to have some fun in the Red Room of Pain. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of sex, just not all that interesting or exciting. The same thing seems to happen every time.
In the second book you notice that Ana sort of starts to stand up for herself and Christian begins to catch on that he's a bit controlling and maybe he should tone it down. In the book one, Christian was very much in control of the relationship, but the tables turn and Ana seems to have more control in the relationship. Christian's childhood is revealed, resulting in a better understanding of his so called "problems". Ana becomes a lot more self-assured, daring, mature, and experienced. Yet she is still not sure whether or not she will be able to fulfill Christian's needs. The thing that makes this book a lot different from others in this genre is that there's actually a story that surrounds the main characters.
I still loved Ana's Inner-Goddess and I loved the banter between Ana and Christian. There are a lot of e-mails between Ana and Christian in this book and I found them to be very cute and playful. The e-mailing also allowed Ana to say exactly what she was feeling.
Overall, the storytelling is amazing and so is the characterization. I never at anytime felt like I was missing anything. I loved Christian and his depth, and of course his sexiness. I loved watching him go through his self discovery, and revealing himself to Ana little by little. As far as Ana goes, I liked her for the most part, and I love that she is able to love Christian in spite of his baggage. There were so many moving moments in this book, and I loved it!

Book two is great! It leaves you hanging but it definitely sets you up for book 3! I just finished book 3 and I loved it. This is a trilogy I would recommend to those who love a good love story and have an open mind.
