The Adventurous Couple's Guide to Sex Toys review
I didn't know that the US has some states where sex toys were illegal and the way around this is using the term "novelties." This chapter also covers the topics of various materials toys are made of, the difference between them, and definitions of the different types of sex toys.

Upon receiving the book entitled “The Advanced Couple’s Guide to Sex Toys,” I spent one rainy afternoon reviewing it. Initially, I thought it would be boring but much to my surprise, it was filled with new and useful information. Each chapter held new information and quick reference boxes that had the main information in a “nutshell.”
Chapter 1 held new information for me including the differences in novelties verses sex toys. I didn’t know that the US has some states where sex toys were illegal and the way around this is using the term “novelties.” This chapter also covers the topics of various materials toys are made of, the difference between them, and definitions of the different types of sex toys.
Chapter 2 goes into detail regarding first time toys or gifts. It repeatedly encourages talking to your partner and knowing what they are willing to do and willing to try BEFORE purchasing that first toy. It also bullets suggestions for ways to present the new toys. I thought this was great, and plan to use some of the suggestions myself. Other areas covered in this chapter include the use of lube, fantasies, and what toys to use for each and some good basic information.
Chapter 3 brings it all together, presenting the toy, planning, or at least expecting the unexpected, and reminding the reader to keep a sense of humor. I thought this was important because lots of times we get so serious with lovemaking that we forget it is supposed to be fun. Things happen that are out of our control, but we can still have fun and enjoy the experience and learn from it! Chapter 3 also provides detailed information on using the sex toys with all areas of sex- oral, anal, and penetration.
Chapter 4 gets into the kinky toys for couples. It covers the areas of bondage, handcuffs, and restraints- areas that my husband and I are not really involved in. However, the chapter does offer suggestions for the beginners in these areas and make them sound appealing. It goes further into the areas of paddles, whips, clamps, and clips and offers suggestions for increasing their use during sex.
Chapter 5 concentrates on strap-ons and Bend Over Boyfriend, offering suggestions for activities to use with a new strap on and fun things to do with your partner. This chapter basically talks to straight couples and offers numerous suggestions for strap-ons for their use.
Chapters 6-9 go into detail about the more advanced sex toys, sex furniture, and on-line sex for couples. Each chapter again provides much useful information but I found these chapters less appealing to me that the first chapters.
Chapter 10 focuses on smart shopping and recommends sources to get toys and items from. Being in health care, I was impressed with the very last section which deals with being safe, using protection and providing statistics regarding transmission of disease through various sex acts. Overall, I give the book 4 stars and change my initial opinion of it.
