Breaks neither budget nor brain
If you've never considered using household items for sexual purposes and are looking for some fun ideas to spice up your sex life, this book could easily do the trick. If you're looking for in depth lists of uses for specific items or for steamy sex stories, this isn't your book. It is designed as a jumping off point for the imagination, and people who think outside the box have probably long surpassed it.
Published:
Pros
Nicely organized; everything is easily located. Covers a wide range of objects and interests.
Cons
Not very in depth or creative.
When I picked out this book to review, I was expecting it to be a book full of creative uses for various household objects. Be warned: while there are a few interesting uses, most of them are fairly obvious to anyone who thinks outside of the box enough to realize that there are more uses to a belt than just wearing it. A good description comes from the book's preface: "More than how-to's, these are possible scenarios. Read them to your partner as a way of getting started, act out the situations described, or glean a bit of useful information to take on your way." They are not out to list a bazillion uses of every single household object, nor are they out to write steamy sex scenes. They write out their scenarios as stories rather than as story ideas, but the main point of the stories is to give you ideas for your own play.
The stories themselves are not bad. They feature a nice cross-section of different tastes, and the writing is good. The organization of the book makes things nice and easy to find as well. They are each identified by the main object that is being used in an unintended manner and then alphabetized. They are coded as lesbian (l), gay (g), heterosexual (h), solo (s), or orgy (o) in the index, so it is easy to page through and find stories that suit your tastes. Some of the stories also include extra information about safety, possible variations on the story's theme, and/or additional ideas in a little post script at the bottom of the story.
All in all, this wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't one I would have picked up for myself if I'd seen it in a store and had a chance to page through it before purchasing it.
