All-around Amazing
It is a book that anyone interested in the Dominant/submissive lifestyle should definitely pick up and read even if they feel like they've moved past the basics. I'd probably consider this one of those "must-read" BDSM books.

Pros
Great for Dominants, AMAZING for submissives.
Cons
The spelling mistakes.
I'd heard many good things about this book, so when I picked it up, I was definitely expecting to get quite a lot out of it. As a Dominant, I figured the entire book would be towards a submissive point-of-view, but I was wrong. The first half of the book is detailed towards the Dominant, and the second half is detailed towards the submissive. The two halves of the book vary greatly, but a Dominant or a submissive would benefit from reading both sections.
The Dominant section is from one of her books entitled Miss Abernathy's Concise Slave Training Manual. It includes a short introduction towards what BDSM is that is geared mostly towards the beginner. I would not consider this book to be a great source for a new BDSM beginner, but I would consider it to be a great introduction to any Dominant looking to get into a Master/slave relationship instead of just a Dominant/submissive one or just someone curious about a Master/slave lifestyle.
One of my favorite features of this book comes from the fact that it showcases the different types of erotic slavehood. When most people think of slaves, they automatically assume that they would be sex slaves. This book thoroughly explains the differences between sex slaves, maids, escorts, and butlers. It doesn't assume that everyone into this lifestyle will be only used as a sex slave.
While the Dominant portion does a good job of explaining how to train a slave, the heart and soul of this book does lie in the submissive portion. Unlike the Dominant half which was just structured as an information book, the second half is structured into tasks and skills that a submissive should know along with an activity to improve each. There's even some little quizzes sprinkled throughout the section to help you understand or delve into your submissive personality.
The submissive section of the book is written in a way that you could even do the activities by yourself if you don't have a Dominant to help you (in fact, Miss Abernathy encourages it.) It walks you through the very basic (what slavery means to you) up to the more advanced (how to do the laundry with your Dominant's needs in mind). After that section, it goes into detail about how to specialize your training towards whatever you are looking to be (sex slave, butler, maid).
The submissive half is the probably the best guide I've seen for training a submissive. I must say I was quite impressed by the activities the book recommended for training.
The only downside I've found happens to be the spelling errors. It looks like no one ever proofread the book. It's not ridiculous, but I'd say I noticed about twenty different spelling errors while just attempting to read the book. If you own your own copy, I'd just recommend fixing the errors if those things bother you. The spelling errors are definitely not a reason to skip reading the book. Also, the book is copyright 2007, so I'd say that the book is pretty up-to-date with modern technology.

Experience
I used some of the activities and quizzes with my slave. We curled up in bed, and I asked him some of the prompting questions and ended up getting a better view of some of my boyfriend's thoughts about it.
Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
It's a book. Unless my book somehow got under the water, there's not too much about its durability changing.
However, it has lasted us the last two months as being used for references. It's an amazing book that I always check back in with to see if there are any training methods or anything of the sort for the problems I'm having with my slave. He went through some of the activities, but never made it all the way through. The activities themselves are really good for those you want to put the time into it and learn - it really is stuff that will help your slavery.
I really prefer it mostly for its basic, down-to-earth view on Erotic Slavery, and the fact that it brings up so many great discussion points for you and your partner. It's an easy read with well-written language, and it brings up things that you should be considering when you become a slave or when you take on a slave.
We've been regularly checking back into it for new training ideas or just to find something to discuss. I can easily foresee this being a book that stays at the top of our bookshelf for consistent use. Plus, a lot of my friends enjoy borrowing it because it has such a great reputation.

Books are hard to review! Good review! How long did it take you to read it? Can it be read in multiple sittings?
-
I don't like to say how long it takes me to read it because I read very quickly compared to the average person, so it's really not a realistic estimate. But it took me about two hours, tops. I did read it in multiple sittings, and it's set up nicely to do as such.

Very nice review! I agree with Lauren, books are hard to review but you did a nice job with it.

If there's any spelling mistakes, I'd probably go grammar nazi nuts and wouldn't be able to get over it. However, this does seem like a bombtastic read. Thanks for the ace review!
