This pump really SUCKS!
I really doubt this pump will get much use at our house because, it just doesn't work. It promises to maintain pressure in the cylinders so you can disconnect the tubing but, this is impossible because the pressure needs constant adjustment/pumping to maintain it. Also, the handle seems flimsy and makes a weird popping noise occasionally when it's squeezed. I would suggest looking into a better quality pump for this hefty price!

Pros
Sturdy acrylic cylinders.
Cons
Does not maintain pressure, flimsy handle, if you need help it costs $2.95/min.
Okay, I obviously am not the one who used this pump, so I'm going to just get a few particulars out of the way as well as my opinion before turning this review over to hubby. He has been really interested in trying out a penis pump for quite some time, so he was overjoyed to be receiving Dr. Joel's penis and scrotum pump from Doc Johnson! I was extremely happy for him and once it arrived, we couldn't wait to try it out. We were NOT using this pump in the attempt to enlarge hubby's penis! There are no studies to suggest that a pump will enlarge your penis at all so, don't expect that! Penis pumps are also used for erectile dysfunction|Penis Pump Guide: Further Reading, premature ejaculation and probably other things as well. We wanted a pump to see if it could help with stamina as well as to help maintain a rock hard erection longer during lovemaking. Unfortunately, this pump turned out to be more of a chore in my opinion. Mostly because after a long day and finally getting the kids settled down for the night, it was time to try and help hubby get this pump to work out right for him. First, you are supposed to warm the penis with either a warm shower/bath or use a warm, wet cloth held on the penis to warm it up. The directions say to never try and pump a cold penis so, we warmed it up. Next, you are to massage the penis for a few minutes which wasn't a problem for either of us. Then you are to warm it up again with a warm cloth, lube it up generously as well as lubing the flared base of the cylinder tube you will be using before pumping|Pumping Techniques. The instruction booklet says to always use an oil-based lube for this.
The instructions also state to re-lube and re-massage the penis/scrotum at least every 15-20 minutes which is the safest way to ensure you won't damage anything! Oddly enough though, the next paragraph in the instructions state that each pump session should last 30 minutes for the first week, increasing each session 5-10 minutes each week until you reach a pumping time of one to two hours per session. I'm not sure if they expect you to leave it on that long per session or not but, I HIGHLY recommend taking it off at least every 20 minutes! That is, if you can get it to work correctly which we failed at...
While this pump set has quick connect tubes that allow for an emergency release valve|Release valve will be used every time you play with your penis pump. on the top of each tube as well as an emergency pressure relief lever on the pump handle itself, we could not get it to seal up and not leak air. It is supposed to maintain pressure in the tube so you can disconnect the quick release from the tube and just leave the tube itself on but, we found this to be impossible because the air pressure needed constant adjustment. I also thought the handle seemed a bit flimsy for the price. I really don't expect it to last long and considering the substantial cost of this item, I won't be recommending it to anyone soon!
What's included: 1 penis/scrotum cylinder; 1 penis cylinder (both of which are made of acrylic); flexible hose; pump handle with pressure gauge; instruction manual; sample of "stallion pumpers lube"; 2 rubber cock rings; 90 day limited warranty card; daily program record (one sheet of paper); and Dr. Joel's pump 24 hour tech line phone number in case you need help, but it will cost you $2.95/min!
That's all that I really have to say about it. It was a horrible let down, we couldn't get it to work correctly so, there was no change in hubby whatsoever. Don't waste your time or money...

Experience
His opinion:
My experience with this pump was disastrous! For starters, it just would not maintain pressure no matter what I did. I tried this pump standing, sitting and lying down... nothing mattered. I had to constantly pump the handle every few seconds in order to maintain the proper pressure of 12 inches of mercury (never exceed 15!).
While using the penis cylinder|Cylinder is the key element of any penis pump, it always seemed to try and suck my scrotum sack up into the cylinder too which was rather uncomfortable to say the least! When using the scrotum/penis cylinder, the flared base was always positioned on my pubic bone which also caused discomfort! It almost seemed like a torture device!
The tubing going from the cylinder to the pump handle repeatedly came unattached from the quick connect fittings on either cylinder which also created a loss in pressure. I don't think I was ever able to even keep one of these cylinders on for 10 minutes straight without something going awry!
There were two rubber cock rings included in this set. The idea is to put one of these solid, rubber cock rings on before taking the penis pump off, but these are solid rubber cock rings that will not fit over the flared base of the cylinder. I'm really confused on how you are supposed to make that work...
The pump handle itself seemed cheaply made to me. It's made from plastic and every time I squeeze the handle, I expect it to break. It makes a weird popping noise sometimes when you squeeze it.
All, in all, this penis/scrotum pump|Dr Joel's penis and scrotum pump is messy to use due to the lube required for the penis and the flared base, bulky to store, doesn't maintain pressure correctly, so is not worth the price tag! I highly recommend you pass on this one and look into a better made pump if you are truly getting a penis pump|Penis pumps info! This one is just not worth it.

Follow-up commentary
10 months after original review
Well, nothing my husband did to this could make it work. He tried using clamps on the tubes, he tried shaving, and I'm not sure but I think he even tried duct tape to no avail. He eventually broke the plastic handle trying to get it to work and that was the end of the story.
We're both confident that there are better options out there, and highly advise that you look around before purchasing. This one's been nothing but a frustration and headache for us, and we'd hate to see anyone else suffer as we have. It's too bad really because this one has such good potential. It just simply wasn't built sturdy enough.

That's too bad, I know you were excited about this. Those preparation instructions do seem odd, and overly involved. I also would recommend against pumping for more than 20-30 minutes at a time, ever.
-
Thanks Cock Wrangler! We were very excited about this, hubby more so than I but, it just didn't live up to our expectations. We might try another one in the future but, probably not anytime too soon. Hubby forgot to mention that it is recommened you shave the pubic hair that will be in contact with the flared base so that it will help form a seal. We closely trimmed his and had no problem with the seal at the base, it was just the tubing and connections leaking. Also, it is not recommended to exceed 15 inches of mecury on this pump because anything higher than that could cause blood vessels to rupture and nobody wants that!

Sorry this didn't work for you. Do penis pumps actually work? I'm a student in the medical field, we've looked stuff up and can't seem to find anything that says they do. The damage that can be done seems downright terrifying to me- and I don't have a penis. Thanks for the review!
-
Well, this one didn't! =P As far as if they actually work, nothing will enlarge the penis except for a surgical procedure. I'm not really sure why anyone would want to take the risk of surgery just to enlarge their penis though. Penis pumps are "supposed" to help with premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction and stamina. We wanted to increase stamina but, we couldn't get this pump to hold pressure so, I have no idea if it would actually help with that or not.... Hubby is actually thinking about getting some small hose clamps that might help keep this one from leaking but, I honestly have my doubts as to whether this will work or not. If he has any success with it, I'll make sure to let everyone know! You're definitely right though! If you are not careful with a pump and follow the directions, damage can be done and quite frankly, it terrifies me too! If there is any pain, you should definitely stop! Thanks for your comment! =)

I was actually looking at this pump last night on here. I'm glad I read this review before I bought it! I think I may look for something different to increase my stamina. Great review! Thanks!
-
Thanks for the explanation! I'm just really curious about the whole thing..... :)
-
Well, MaxD, I really don't recommend this pump. For the price, it is a pretty big let down. I definitely recommend looking into something else! Thanks for your comment!
-
Beautiful Dreamer, Your very welcome and I hope I was able to help even if just a little. I've added some resources that might be useful too! Thanks for your comment! =)

Has Dr. Joel actually made ANY safe or effective sex toys?
-
You know, that's a fantastic question! I would really like to know the answer to this question as well...... I suspect the answer is probably no...... Thanks for the comment Dame Demi!
-
Well written. Amazing how something that expensive doesn't work well....
-
Thank you Devilbluedress! I totally agree with you! You'd think for this price, it would have been built better but, unfortunately, that wasn't the case.....
-
Considering how expensive this is, it sounds like a total waste of money.
