In the varied world of male masturbators, it seems that there is a quest to make one where the sleeve does most of the work and the operator just has to hold it in place. California Exotic's Optimum Power Blow Job Stroker is one of these. It has a motor hooked to a metal ring of beads that oscillates up and down to provide a stroking sensation to a penis that may be inserted.
Problem is, the user has to have a pretty specific penis size and even there the sensations aren't much to write home about. I think that the main reason for the lack of sensation is the quantity of material between your penis and the stroking mechanism. Not only is the SoftTouch sleeve in the way, but there is a thin rubber sleeve in between as well. All this adds up to a less than stellar experience.

The exterior of this toy is made out of plastic with most of the sleeve being translucent purple so you can see the inner workings of the stroking mechanism. The important part (the inner sleeve) is made of SoftTouch material which is listed in the "Guide to Materials" as a thermal plastic elastomer (mixture of PVC and Silicone). This material is soft and stretchy, but the plastic outer casing keeps the inner sleeve from being able to expand to accommodate larger cocks.
The interior of the SoftTouch sleeve is nubbed for additional stimulation. The nubs are not incredibly noticeable under normal usage, but if the sleeve is removed from the plastic casing, it can be used like a more traditional masturbation sleeve where your hand can be used to provide the desired resistance. Under this condition, the nubs are actually meaningful, but they just don't do much while it is inside the plastic casing.

If there was one place where the Optimum Power Blow Job Stroker fails, it's right here. The dimensions of the whole system are such that it just won't work for a wide variety of penis dimensions. First off, in order for the stroking mechanism to be felt, pretty decent length is required as it only has a travel of 1.5". Additionally, the plastic casing and mechanism only allow for a certain amount of stretch which means that it will not be able to accommodate a larger diameter penis.
How long and how wide, you ask? Well, using a tape measure, I would say that you need to be able to insert a minimum of 5" into the sleeve to get any meaningful sensation out of the stroking mechanism. I realize that this doesn't sound like much, but this is a minimum amount needed to fully insert. As far as the width, I think that 1.5" diameter is probably about right. More than that I think would have difficulty getting inside and too much less than that will probably not get as much stimulation from the mechanism. These are about the dimensions of the Tex dildo which I happen to own, so I lubed it up and put it inside and it all seemed to work very well. So if you have the portion of your penis that can be inserted is about the dimensions of Tex, then this may be just the masturbator for you.

While the function of this toy is relatively unusual, the control of it is not. The stroking mechanism is operated with a slider switch on a wired remote powered by four AA batteries. The remote is hard wired so it cannot be unplugged for maintenance or cleaning. The slider switch adjusts the speed of the stroke. Given the same size motor, the four AA batteries provide the same voltage and current as 4 C batteries, but not the longevity. This motor doesn't seem to be extremely powerful, but it is certainly able to move the mechanism up and down. You can hear the motor stressing out as additional pressure is put against the beads, but they don't seem to stop. I guess if you can get your penis past the opening, you shouldn't be so large that you will keep the mechanism from working.

As mentioned earlier, the interior sleeve is made of SoftTouch which is a TPE compound. Although other TPE compounds list at '6' on the Material Safety Scale, SoftTouch weighs in as one of the worst with a value of '1'. This indicates that the material is extremely porous which means it is difficult to clean and easy for germs and dirt to hide. Although unlike Fleshlight's SuperSkin, SoftTouch can be cleaned with soap and water which provides a better feeling of cleanliness. The internal sleeve can be removed for cleaning which is important because it is open ended and the stroking mechanism should not get wet and the wired remote cannot be removed. The inner sleeve should be allowed to air dry afterward before re-installing the plastic cap for storage or it will not dry and could get moldy.
Due to the fact that SoftTouch has both plastic and silicone components, one should stick to water based lubes as petroleum oil based or silicone based lubricants may cause deterioration. By the way, I found that using the Optimum Power Blow Job Stroker to require copious amounts of lube.

The Optimum Power Blow Job Stroker is sold in a shiny cardboard box meant for hanging. The box has pictures of the stroker all over it, so you definitely know what you're getting into. There are no pictures of naked women on the box though, so at least it is discreet from that perspective. Other than the pictures there really isn't much information about the toy, so you get what you can gather from the photos. Inside the box the stroker is wrapped in bubble wrap. The box also contains a set of general instructions about battery installation.

This is the second "hands free" stroker I have tried. Comparing the two, I would say this one is not as good as the other. Neither of them was great for me, but the other one was put together better and provided more stimulation. The way this one was most useful was when I removed the SoftTouch sleeve from the inside and used it like a traditional masturbation sleeve. Problem is, if some one wants a traditional masturbation sleeve they can get much better sleeves and pay a lot less. This thing just doesn't make sense to me.
