Good but could have been great

The Sex Engine had such great possibilities. It has great suction and a nice tightness to it. However, there are some design flaws that can not be overlooked that greatly take away from the experience. You may want to save up for the other brand and skip the vibration.

I was looking forward to trying the Sex Engine the moment I saw it on the site. It has some interesting features, like vibration and a suction cup mount, that you usually do not see on a cased stroker. Unfortunately, the Sex Engine was a bit of a disappointment.

As always, this toy arrived in a nondescript box. The packaging was a plastic bag with no instructions on how to clean or maintain the toy. The first thing I noticed was how large this toy really is. It is definitely a two hander and does not fit in my toy drawer. It was easy to figure out where the batteries go and after a quick wash the Sex Engine was ready for its maiden launch.

I decided to try this toy in the shower so I could take full advantage of the suction cup base. I used a bit, and then quite a bit more, of water based lubricant to get this toy going. That is the only kind of lube you want to use with TPR. I started with this stroker in hand. You have to be rather hard to penetrate the Sex Engine. The opening is small and tight and feels very nice. You almost immediately feel the suction. Not a bad start.

Then I ran into the first design issue. The opening of the toy is at an angle. This means the toy can only be turned one way. This was not bad until I used it stuck on the shower wall. Second, the vibrations are rather weak. The sounds the vibrator makes were a little commical and very distracting. Kind of like a revving sound every time you slid in. Maybe that is why they called it an engine? Now it was time to mount the engine to the wall and really try it out.

Oi! I did not run into the issue the last reviewer did. The suction cup stuck firm the very first try and would not budge. The issue I had was with the adjustment knob between the suction cup and the toy. If the knob is not as tight as it can possibly be, the hinge likes the move with some very loud grinding noises. And, if your fingers have any lube on them then you are really out of luck. A simple wing nut would have fixed this issue. I found that you really have to figure out what angle you want before you stick it to the wall. Once it is up, it is really hard to adjust. Finally, the stars aligned, the toy stopped moving, and it felt really really good. Success was achieved, and now it was cleanup time.

Cleanup revealed the final design flaw that ruined this toy for me. The inner sleeve has a small hole at the very end that allows liquids of all kinds to enter the hard case. This would not be a big deal if the case did not have wires and a bullet in it and some foam to keep things tight. This made the Sex Engine extra hard to clean. The sleeve can be turned partially inside out for cleaning, and you really should just use water and maybe a little soap due to the material. Before storing it, you want to make sure it is super dry. This means you have to leave it sitting out apart overnight and dust it with cornstarch before storing it. If it is not dry, it may develop mold. Stuff you do not want your parts coming in contact with.

Note: I did try the sleeve without the case and vibe and had a very good experience and easy cleanup.

Overall, the Sex Engine felt very good but has too many issues for me to highly recommend it or to keep it in my toy drawer (even if it did fit!).
Follow-up commentary
The Sex engine never really did it for me. The suction cup made it less useful then it could have been. You will no longer find this toy in our toy drawer.
