Ok, so starting out with a Star Trek reference may really be painting me for the real nerd that I am, but honestly, the first thing I thought of when I opened up the box for the Bcurious was "wow, now this is a toy that Jim Kirk would probably have had in his nightstand... Right next to his phaser."

As an unabashedly tech-oriented guy, the Bcurious is right up my alley. Of course, as a connoisseur of pleasure, the Bcurious pulled double duty with me.

As I am equipped with parts that dangle, the Bcurious really wasn't designed for me. Ok, sure, I like the fact that it looks like I can use it to take on marauding Klingons, but that doesn't really get me off. Luckily, it serves another purpose in my hands... Getting her off.

I found that the Bcurious makes for wonderful foreplay. It's probably really good for solo play too, but as I previously explained, I'm ill-equipped to provide an adequate review on stimulating my clitoris. Anyway, the curves and angles of this little guy provide for plenty of fun opportunities for a partner to explore and investigate his lady's body. The material is of the right texture and firmness to allow for some gentle (and maybe not-so gentle) exploration of all of those soft and sensitive spots that sometimes go woefully under appreciated as we often go diving right into the main dish.

That being said, as my interest often lies with the desire to share experiences, I was curious as to how well the Bcurious could be used to provide additional stimulation during intercourse. While the various strengths and patterns of vibrations along with the interesting shape can certainly add some additional zing to the act, the size and shape combined with the prominently placed buttons make it a bit awkward. Personally, I would stick to using the Bcurious as a means to boost the anticipation and arousal and would leave the mutual play to toys that are better equipped for the challenge.

The Bcurious uses a mix of material textures which adds to the experience. I think it provides the right amount of silky texture with a firm, harder edge which can be used to more adequately explore those more sensitive areas. I think the wide, silky texture of the main body makes for gentle teasing of areas like the soft skin along the sides of the breasts, along the contour of the butt, or the flat of the stomach.

The design and shape is what really caught my interest in the Bcurious. While I realized early on that this was primarily designed to be a solo toy, I was determined to figure out a way to make it work - namely because the wild shape of the thing inspired many ideas as to potential things I could do to my partner.

The shape and the way it provides a wide variety of surfaces and edges (and yes, even a rather nice point) works to one's advantage if you're interested in stimulating your partner's body as a whole. Of course, while I find the Bcurious useful in total-body attention, the primary purpose is vaginal stimulation, and in that the design works very much to the advantage of a partner who is willing to pay attention to external titillation. The shape allows for a good deal of different angles and the ability to provide direct and indirect stimulation to different sensitive areas at the same time.

I think the controls are genius. Easy on, easy off, and the fact that the control pad illuminates is like added porn to a tech nerd like me. The Bcurious is relatively quiet, although you definitely know it's on. There are a multitude of speeds and programmed patterns, all of which are useful in their own way. The nice thing about the size and shape of the Bcurious is that it is compact and the vibrations seem to be centrally located which means all of the sides and surfaces provide a solid degree of stimulation.

The only complaint, and it is a small one, is that the buttons are large and easy to push which means that using it in a manner that requires frequent turning and adjusting of the position means you might hit the buttons and accidentally turn it off right in the middle of things. Of course, it's minor and pops back on with near-zero effort.

As a side note, I continue to be a huge fan of rechargeable toys, and the Bcurious does not disappoint. A two hour charge provides a more than adequate amount of play time

This is a no-brainer. Easy clean up with soap and water, or a little bleach if you're really looking for a good sterilizing. Since it's a quality silicone toy use only water based lube if you find the need for lube at all. Stores in it's own handy storage bag.

Uninspiring packaging. But it's whats on the inside that counts, right?

I would like to point out that the instructions really left something to be desired. OK, so the use and care for the thing are fairly intuitive, but it took me longer than I would have liked to find the charging/storing requirements.

As always, the caveat to this review is the fact that it is being written by a guy who is interested in mutual pleasure or a means of adding pleasure to any element of foreplay and sex. I could probably ask my partner to go solo with the Bcurious and then I could take notes and write about it, but I think there are more than a few other reviews that cover solo play already.

So with that being said, I can best sum up the Bcurious from a couple's perspective, and that perspective is that this is a very fun toy for couple's play. It's a great way to prolong the anticipation during foreplay, and the fact that it is almost purely an external toy it makes it that much more pleasurable to finally get to the penetration.

As for the ladies, I can only speak for the fact that this is a great toy if you're looking for something you can play with solo or something you can use to teach your man the art of exploring and teasing your body, because yes, sometimes us men are far too focused on heading right for the promised land and forget that you have a whole sexy body that can be turned on too.

It has proven to be a good toy for addressing those body areas that sometimes get ignored or maybe those parts that you never knew were sexually sensitive. Use the smooth side of the Bcurious to tantalize the distance between the underside of the butt down to the back of the knee and then explore the back of the knee with the pointy end. Who knows? Maybe you'll find a whole new level of pleasure!
