Take me to Ipanema!

I was not expecting much out of this little thing, but boy did it surprise me. Use it as a G Spot or clitoral vibrator for easy orgasms. The size makes it a little awkward for easy G-Spotting, but with determination it can be done.

Use

The Ipanema is an easy to use vibrator that fits in the palm of your hand. It has only one button on the control tip end that toggles through on/off, low and high. The battery is easily replaced by twisting the evolved labeled portion of the vibe.

It is best used for discreet (but not necessarily quiet stimulation) of the body. The bulb ending diffuses the vibrations throughout 20-30% of the tiny toy. The toy is waterproof and small enough to insert into the vagina. Although it is shaped like a G spot toy, at 4 inches the Ipanema is not very long. Expect internal stimulation to only go as deep as your wrist. Because of its strong almost pinpointed vibrations, it is great for clitoral stimulation. It can also be used to stimulate the nipples or other body parts. I would not recommend using the Ipanema anally since it does not have a flared base.

Anyone should be able to use this mini vibe, but those new to G Spotting may find its small size discouraging for female internal stimulation. The curved head helps guide the user, but the length may make it challenging for some. Even with this limitation, it is an excellent vibrator overall.

Material / Texture

The Ipanema is made of hard plastic that is coated for smoothness. It has an odd shape, forming a slight hook at the top. The body is ribbed with a smooth head. The texture and design of the head is slightly similar to the head on a penis. The shaft is very hard with noticeable ribbing.

To the fingers the material feels like satin. It is actually coated Phthalates free / Latex free plastic. It is very hard and very unyielding. This is perfect if you like your toys stiff! The vibrator can be used with both silicone and water based lubes. It has no odor, and no taste.

You can enjoy the smooth texture of the head or the rough texture of the shaft. The vibrations are strongest in the head, but they can be felt in the ribbed portion.

Design / Shape / Size

When I first opened the container, I thought: "Oh my goodness, this is small!" Then there was extreme confusion about what I was going to do with it. The shape looked like it was designed for G Spot stimulation but it seemed too short. I tried it and was surprised that I could reach the spot with such a small toy. It took a little maneuvering and some knowledge of my own body, but when I found it it was worth it.

Holding the Ipanema was also a little concerning at first. Although I have a smaller vibe already (Little Chroma) I was afraid that this one would be too awkward to hold, and I was correct. The little vibrator fits my hands like a joystick, but needs to be held like a pencil in order to have the best control. Although the fat head may be the best part of the design, I feel that the toy overall is too fat to hold comfortably. Once I became aroused, I figured out a way to hold the toy on my clitoris at an angle. I noticed that I was only using the tips of my fingers and that it was easy to control the pressure of the toy.

Internally, the slight width felt surprisingly good. Although it is not that thick, especially compared to the Bliss, it was noticeable inside me. That has to be due to the ribbing and odd shape. Even when the vibrator was off, I felt some satisfaction moving it around inside of me trying to find the G Spot.

The best part about the design is its size, especially when you need to store or travel with it. It comes with a hard plastic storage case that looks like a see through bird cage. (Well, at least it does to me.) The case is decorated with flowers and gives off an exotic feel. Even though there is some writing on it, and anyone who can read can figure out it is a sex toy, it is still discreet. I would guess that most people would love the Ipanema just based on its size alone.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations are located in the bulb like head of the Ipanema. Most of the vibrations can be felt in over half of the toy. This doesn't say much because that is about 2 inches and 20-30% of the toy is its head. Luckily, despite its small size it has some powerful vibrations on high.

To get the toy going you simply insert one AA battery by twisting the end. The toy does not come with batteries, so make sure to have some on hand. Once the battery is in, the vibrator is turned on by pressing the small button in the tip. To toggle between low and high press the button again. There are no instructions, but it is really straight forward how to use the toy once the batteries are in.

The Ipanema has two vibration levels, but there aren't really any special functions. Its claim to fame is being small and waterproof, and it does that pretty well. I used it in the shower, and found the vibrations weaker on my clit, but the water drowned out the noise. As a G spot vibrator, the vibrations were strong enough, once I had it placed correctly. Best of all, the power button was easy to operate while wet, and the toy did not slide out of my soapy hands thanks to the ribbing.

Outside of the shower, the vibrator was excellent on the clitoris, and easily served its purpose in helping me reach orgasm.

The only thing I wasn't that wowed about was the sound level on the Ipanema. It's discreet, but it is not that quiet. I rated it a three out of five and felt comfortable using it under blankets behind closed doors.

Care and Maintenance

This vibe is super easy to clean and maintain. Wash it in soap and water or use toy cleaner. When cleaning, make sure to close the toy tightly to keep water out of the battery chamber. The Ipanema is made out of plastic, therefore you probably shouldn't boil it to clean. Also, keeping the batteries out of the toy during storage will probably maintain the toy longer. Storage of the toy is easy in its included hard plastic case.

Personal comments

Although I gave the Ipanema 5 stars, it is not my favorite vibrator. It earned five stars because I was able to reach orgasm with it, but I felt like I had to work for it a bit too much. It needs to be 1 inch longer and a slight bit quieter to be perfect. I'd pay double to make that happen!
