Rock Star Stevie by Doc Johnson is designed for g-spot exploration. It could also be used for external stimulation as well to tease and caress your body during foreplay over all of your erogenous zones that enjoy attention and being stimulated. I bought it for the specific purpose of g-spot exploration because I have not been able to find my g-spot and am on the hunt for something that works for my body.
You can use it on your own or with a partner inserting it in you. My husband does not really enjoy toys so I tend to be left alone to explore my body on my own.
I feel this would be best for those who are just starting to experiment with g-spot toys and exploration like myself. It did not deliver results in that aspect, but I feel that it was a nice tool to help me get familiar with using toys specifically designed for this purpose. It is not intimidating and penis shaped or realistic looking so beginners shouldn't be wary.
I’m a beginner when it comes to using toys for g-spot exploration, but I can say the tip inserted easily and the 4 3/4” insertable length should be enough for those that have already located their g-spot. This is not my case so I cannot definitively say if it is a good match with my anatomy or not.
Stevie is made out of a smooth, soft, velvety, body-safe silicone. Silicone is one of the safest product materials on the market and is considered a 10 on the safety scale because it isn't porous and won't harbor bacteria. It is also made out of food-grade material, is phthalate free, latex free and hypoallergenic. The base of Stevie where you hold it is made out of plastic which is an 8 on Eden’s safety scale, but this part is not inserted.
It is ideal for those who prefer smooth toys because there is no added texture anywhere. The core of the toy is very flexible. This is my first g-spot toy that has some flexibility to it and I was surprised when I received her because I am used to things that do not have this capability. My other g-spot designed toys all have a hard core whereas this one is only hard at the base where it is plastic. It has a more pronounced bulbed head than a tip on it. My other g-spot toys generally have a small head to them, but this one is larger. There is a small seam running the length og the toy, but can't be felt internally which is wonderful because you do not have to worry about it potentially catching on your delicate areas.
Mine had a light odor right out of the box but nothing that was overwhelming, and it does not have any taste.
Stevie comes in two colors black and sea foam. I have the black. It has three rows of silver studs at the battery cap and has a ball shape at the handle.
Stevie’s design is pretty simple. She's curved at the top for g-spot stimulation. I was not able to hit my g-spot with it, but every woman's anatomy is designed differently so others may be able hit theirs.
She has an overall length of 8" and an insertable length of 4 3/4". She has a small curve and a thick head. It is 4 1/2" wide at the head, 3 1/2" wide at the center, and 4 1/2" wide right above the battery compartment. As I mentioned, her head is a little larger than other g-spot toys I own and the picture below will show how she compares with Gigi.
I think her size is suitable for beginners and advanced users alike. She isn't penis shaped so beginners and those with partners that do not want penis shaped toys in the home wouldn't be intimidated by having her. Although Stevie isn't a realistic sex-toy it is obvious what her intended use is so if being discreet is important to you, please hide her when not in use.
Stevie is small enough for travel and will fit easily in your purse, bag, or jacket pocket.
The twist dial is extremely easy to use. You control the speed of vibration by turning the dial to the right located at the bottom of the toy. The farther you twist the dial the higher the speed will increase. I have never been a fan of twist dial controls because if you ever find a setting you like the odds are you won't be able to find it again. To turn it off, twist to the left. It has raindrop like patterns at the bottom of the controls. It requires 2 AAA batteries that were not included.
It is waterproof and has an o-ring to protect the battery compartment. I did take it into the shower with me and did not have any issues with it afterwards, so it is most definitely splash proof.
It can be heard with a partner next to you, but not outside a closed door or through thin walls. There is no need for any additional background noise.
The buzzy vibrations are located at the tip of the toy, and when inserted really just tickle my body more than producing any feel good stimulation. I've never been a fan of buzzy vibrations so I feel this way about all toys that are more buzzy than they are rumbly.
I have found when used for internal stimulation if you squeeze your pc muscles tightly, it will lessen the intensity of Stevie. You can even hear the difference in the motor from when you squeeze and release. I don't personally like that aspect of it, but it does give me an indication that I'm performing my kegel exercises. I've come across this in several toys I've reviewed recently, and it would be nice to find a toy that I can squeeze my pc muscles and won't affect the power of it.
It can be stored anywhere because of its small size though not touching other silicone toys due to possible break down of the silicone. I wish they would have included a small storage pouch, but that was not the case. I have mine in my lingerie drawer with all of my other toys and it does not take up much room at all. Warning, she collects lint, lube, body fluid, and debris very easily so it's best to wipe her down before nad after each use.
It is compatible with water-based lube and you can use warm water and soap to clean it or use your favorite toy cleaner. Do not use with silicone based lubes because silicone can break down other silicone products, and we don't want that happening.
This has some of the most physically appealing and attractive borders on the packaging that I really didn't want to throw it away. The pictures below will show what it looks like, but I really like the flowers, birds, and hearts. The packaging is not discreet because the clear plastic package displays Stevie nestled inside.
I wouldn't use the package for storage or as a gift box, but if you were giving it away as a gift and your friend or family member is not embarassed by sex toys, then the package is quite pretty, but not discreet. I did not use the plastic box for storage because it is too bulky and I'm running out of room as it is.
I'm still on the hunt for the perfect g-spot toy for me that will work with just me operating it. With that being said, this product is nice but I really do not like the idea that it is so flexible. I think if it had a little bit harder g-spot tip that I may have had better results. Granted, I don't know that for sure, but I like the firmer toys and the pressure I'm able to apply with them.
Follow-up commentaryI still don't like it5 months after original review
Rock Star Stevie is too flexible and doesn't have enough power for me. I like the design of the Rock Star Stevie, but when a toy doesn't have a lot of power or has the ability to apply pressure then it is not going to work for me. I'm learning my body with each toy that I try and that is something I've picked up over time.
