Pros
Gorgeous deep rumbly vibe that can get many to finally plunge in to the vibe world.
Cons
Rounded tip & Lelo motor is not the top choice for those that prefer a high frequency buzzier edge.
What a marvelous underrated gem that is often passed on due to the price. Though, for those shocked by the initial $130 price sticker, after 3 years, the Alia has come down drastically in price.
First and foremost, I don't understand how the Alia only gets 3 vrooms here while other Lelo products using the EXACT same motor, confirmed on Lelo's site, such as the Siri, Soraya or Isla get a 4. A simple look at at the individual manuals reveal the identical specs of the 120 Hz frequency motor with 50 db of max noise. I have held these in the store side-by-side multiple times and they clearly have the same vibration strength and noise level.
As a result, I generally find the posts of Siri highly suspect when using phrases like "way stronger" or "far more quiet" when comparing to Alia.
But about those vibrations; Alia is very deep and rumbly with a slight buzzy edge. If you prefer more a buzzy edge like a premium pocket rocket or egg to light you up, you should keep shopping as you'll be disappointed not only with Alia but most of Lelo's line. If you find the buzziness of your current toys numbing or not deep enough, Lelo's Alia might be exactly what you need.
On to what I consider the greatest aspect of Alia: the perfect first vibe.
I've always been into toys and introduced many a girlfriend to the Hitachi, glass and other forms of play. My wife coming from a very conservative religious background was grossed out by any idea of a toy. Her girlfriends finally got her into one of Hustler's new downtown high-end retail stores and my wife was still generally disgusted. Upon getting married I had to trash my entire toy collection.
Fast forward 6 years.
It became apparent my wife was getting frustrated that her once easy O was being hampered by her birth control and nightly glass of wine; the door was open for "the right" helper. The exquisite gift box, design, class, discreetness, levels of intensity, lack of phalic-ness and the the supple softness of Alia were absolutely a grand slam for introducing a toy to the many wives out there that think all sex toys are unnecessary ugly classless veiny tubes of China plastic you buy in run-down seedy porn shops at 3am.
After some shock, discussion and nervousness, it took only 30 sec with the Alia and it became clear: she was a winner.
The varied patterns astounded my wife and blew away her perception of simple cheap battery vibrators. The pulses are an amazing build during foreplay. And her favorite is the random-crazy pattern; she now knows when I switch to that... we're getting down to business.
Since my wife always prefer I hold Alia, the ringed design is a life saver in the heat of the moment. I couldn't imagine trying to grip and perfectly position a dainty egg or rocket after how intuitive and effective Alia is for couples play.
Yet it's still small enough it can easily travel in any small purse and not raise many eyebrows.
If you need a noisy jackhammer that looks like a medical instrument from a mental ward of the 1940's to get you to that cross-eyed brain mush level of orgasm, by all means stick with your Magic Wands and go get it ladies. But the Alia is not only a powerful ultra-unique addition to your large pleasure chest, I think it's just the toy that could break the ice for the millions of women that would "never touch such a thing".

Thank you for viewing Insignia Alia – discreet massager discontinued review page!
I had a low opinion of Lelo after hating the Ina... but I tried the Smart Wand Medium and love it to pieces, so I'm trying to break down my "Lelo has inattentive designers" stereotype. You make the 'loop as a hand-hold' sound like a good idea---does your hand go numb if you hold it too long?
Great job, I hope to read more from you!
Those first levels of Alia were paramount to woo'ing my shy wife into enjoying the new sensations to her. There's no way I could have just held a wand to her from the get-go. The slow ever increasing level of power is really inviting and impressive.
