Soft and Sensual without much fuss
A great toy for someone who is looking for a basic, traditional vibrator. It provides vibration levels for people of all experience, a soft, velvety material, and it is amazingly durable for the price.

Pros
Very soft, No fuss, Great with batteries, Waterproof, Durable, Strong vibrations
Cons
None.
I've always been very fond of Doc Johnson vibrators, and I have think it's because this was the first toy I owned. Even back when I didn't know exactly how a vibrator was supposed to work, this left nothing to be desired. It's still one of my favorite vibrators in my entire collection.
The Velvet comes in a nice, well-constructed plastic package. I've had this package (and stored the vibrator in it) for the last four years, and it still holds up just fine. The package is decorated with dark purple and clear plastic to allow you to see the toy in all of its glory. When taken out of the package, there was no obvious smell of any sort.
The Velvet Touch Vibe is 7 inches long with 6 insertable inches. The circumference is around 3 inches. It has a slightly rounded tip at the top, and the bottom of the vibrator includes a screw-off top that allows you to drop in the two AA batteries it requires to use. (Not included) There is no texture to the shaft of the toy - it is completely smooth. If you like to be careful about your toys using batteries, the Velvet Touch Vibe has a great feature that allows you to slightly twist open the battery casing to make sure the batteries don't touch, but the lid still stays on the toy. However, if you choose to store it that way, please make sure to fully close the lid before using the toy again.
This toy's vibration come at three levels. When you twist the twist-dial located on the bottom of the screw-off top, it will go between low, medium, and high vibrations. Each is a constant buzzing, and I usually find that the medium does the job just fine without having to go up to the high setting. In fact, after holding the vibrator in my hand with the highest vibration setting, I feel my hand go a little numb. I'm sure if the person was fully aroused when using the highest setting, though, it would feel amazing.
This toy was mostly meant for clitoral and erogenous stimulation. It can be used vaginally, although, personally, I find the velvet cote plastic to be too hard and unforgiving to have it slid in comfortably. This toy should most certainly not be used anally because it doesn't have a base or anything to keep it from sliding completely into your anal cavity.
Another selling point of this toy is that it is waterproof. I've used it in the bathtub before and had no problem with water getting into the battery compartment. As long as the battery compartment is sealed very tightly, you can easily play with this toy in the bath or shower.
When it comes to noise, I haven't had much problems with the toy as long as you keep it on low or medium. The high setting can be heard through a door, but only if you're making an effort to actually think there is a vibrator in the room.
This product is made from the Velvet cote, and while it makes it extremely soft to the touch, it is very firm and does not have any give. This makes this toy usually very uncomfortable to use internally. It is also phthalate-free, but you should still consider using a condom on this toy just to make clean up easier. You can use water or silicone based lubricant, but I've always used water-based, and it works just fine. The toy usually doesn't become that slippery when lube is introduced because of the material its made out of. To clean, just wash it with warm water or use a special toy cleaner.
I've had this toy for four years and never had any sort of problem with it breaking. It seems to be very durable, but I must say that I'm also not very rough with my toys either. It's also great with batteries, and I only have to replace the batteries after about seven or eight hours of use. Even after all of these four years, the toy still has maintained its beautiful Velvet Cote in the same manner as the first day I bought it. It might have something to do with the fact that I keep it in its original box, though.
This is a great traditional vibrator for anyone who wants to try a vibrator or anyone that just wants to experiment with the Velvet Cote feel. The price mixed with the fact that it is so easy to use make it a great starting vibrator. It has great levels of vibration without all of the advanced features.

Experience
My boyfriend likes to steal this vibrator of mine and use it on the base of his shaft and on his perineum. He says they feel really good in both areas. I just prefer to use it clitorally. Still one of my favorites after all of my other toys.
Follow-up commentary

Still one of my favorites. If I don't want to deal with the bulk of the Hitachi, this is always my second choice. It's soft enough to be pleasurable and it's one of the ones I'm most comfortable with. It has held up amazingly through these last three years, and I can't say that I've noticed any decline in the motors in the slightest. If I did, I'd buy a new one within days because I love it that much.
I must also say that I left the batteries in here for a very, very long time, and it didn't rust/corrode the batteries nor the toy. Nor did it kill the batteries in the slightest. This is such a responsible-battery toy. Still one of my favorite vibrators as well.
