While the Charisma Smoothy does have pretty good power, considering its small size and that it’s only powered by 1 AA battery, its vibrations are rather buzzy. So if you like buzzy, surface vibrations, you will probably really enjoy this toy. If you prefer rumblier vibrations, or vibrations that travel a bit deeper, you will likely want to try a different toy from California Exotics. I always use the Je Joue MiMi as a point of comparison to standardize my vroom and bee ratings. To rate the buzziness of the Smoothy, if we take a scale from 1-10, 1 being 100% buzziest toy ever, and 10 being 100% rumbliest toy ever, I would rate the MiMi at about a 7 or 8. I would rate the Smoothy as about a 3. It really is a toy that will make your hand numb if you just hold it in your hand for a little while. Also keep in mind that this toy may not be ideal for roommate situations, as it does rate 3 bees.

This really is a low-maintenance toy. It is completely waterproof, so you can feel safe tossing it in a sink full of warm water to wash it with your favorite mild soap or toy cleaner. If you want to sanitize your toys made of Velvet Cote, just swipe them with some isopropyl alcohol. This toy is not safe to boil or send through the dishwasher, since the high heat will damage the motor.

Smoothy is compatible with any lubricant, so feel free to use your favorite. It also plays well with other toys, so there is no need to stress out about storing your Charisma Smoothy. You can easily store it in the box it comes in, or in an old sock, wrapped in a handkerchief or tissue paper, in a plastic baggie, or just about any other idea you can come up with. Just be sure to take the battery out before storing it.

Charisma Smoothy comes in the classic California Exotic clear plastic box, and sits in a clear plastic tray inside the box. The box has a lot of information about the toy on it, and you can see through it easily to get a sneak peek of the toy you’re about to enjoy. While you can store your Smoothy in the packaging, it is also recyclable.

With the size and shape of this toy, in theory it would make a great clitoral stimulator. However, for me, it is not useful for that purpose because it’s way too buzzy. It’s so buzzy that I almost can’t feel the vibrations at all externally or internally. Now, I am not a Hitachi gal, and I don’t even like extremely rumbly vibrations externally, because I find them almost painful. I love my MiMi clitorally, and can use my Uma externally if I’m sufficiently worked up (I find Uma a bit rumblier than MiMi, and it can be painful for me externally if I turn it on full blast from the get go). But this Smoothy is just way too buzzy for me.

I did, however, find a use I liked for my Smoothy! As you look at it, it is about the size of the average finger. So I found that using it for vaginal penetration (turned off) while using another toy for some light clitoral stimulation, was a fun way to simulate oral sex with digital stimulation. That was quite nice! The little curve at the end made it more likely to brush my g-spot as well. But that small niche use for the Smoothy is unlikely to make it a popular toy in my rotation. I just didn’t like it that much, and the fact that I only liked for that one use means I really don’t have much use for this toy.
