Yes, this is definitely on the expensive side for a lubricant. However, in my opinion, the rule of "you get what you pay for" does indeed apply here! The ingredients are few, gentle, and high-quality, and the feel of the product is pretty damn close to a woman's own lubrication. If you've ever been irritated by a lubricant, I highly suggest giving this a try.
Satin by Sliquid is an all-natural, vegan lubricating product made by Sliquid, LLC. It's marketed mainly as a "personal moisturizer", helpful for women who experience the discomfort of vaginal dryness. However, I purchased it for use as a sexual lubricant, since I'm sensitive to ingredients in many other products. I believe just about anyone could use it for this purpose, although it is probably not the best product for anal lubrication use.
The texture of this product was a very pleasant surprise. It's thicker than I expected for a water-based lubricant, and feels very close to my natural lubrication when aroused, though with slightly lower viscosity. When I squeeze a drop onto my fingertip, it stays right there in a nice bubble-shaped droplet until I rub it onto my body. It doesn't have any sticky or greasy feel--just slick and silky.
Have you ever tasted or smelled aloe vera juice--not the sweetened kind with pulp in a liter-sized bottle, but the pure, unadulterated stuff you'd get at a health food store? That's what this lubricant/moisturizer smells like. If you don't know what aloe juice smells like, I'd describe it as rather astringent and bitter; not most people's enjoyable scent of choice, but not horrible, either. Once on the skin, this scent dissipates quickly, so it shouldn't be a problem for most people, and I didn't notice it at all during use. In fact, I didn't notice it until just now, when I opened the cap and smelled it in order to write this section of my review! I just rubbed a drop into the back of my hand, and now all I can smell on my hand is the soap I washed it with an hour ago.
When I lick the back of my hand, into which I just rubbed this product, I don't taste a thing. There aren't any non-edible ingredients in this, but I still wouldn't recommend licking it immediately after applying a large amount.
As mentioned above, I specifically purchased this product for use as a vaginal sex lubricant. I read many reviews, and was aware that I might need to reapply more often than with other water-based lubes, due to the all-natural formulation. I still wanted it, though, because those all-natural, non-irritating ingredients were so important to me. I actually found that it lasted just as well as some water-based lubricants I've tried that contain glycerin and/or parabens!
After use, it seemed to simply be absorbed into the skin. There was no stickiness or slipperiness left over--it felt like we hadn't used anything at all, other than our own natural fluids. Right now, the back of my hand (on which I rubbed some a few minutes ago) just feels a little softer and smoother than that of my other hand.
The container that the Satin lubricant comes in is a fairly basic, cylindrical, domed, squeezable plastic bottle with a screw-on, pop-up cap--much like what you see many lotions and body washes packaged in. It is a beautiful deep cobalt blue in color, though, and the label design adds elegance with its matte navy background and matte gold lettering. It's very discreet-looking, and can be kept on your nightstand or wherever you like, as anyone seeing it will assume it's lotion and think no more of it. Because of the discreet look and the (from what I can tell) leak-proof bottle, it would be just fine for travel, too.
The back of the label informs us that it's "ideal for daily use and intimate occasions," and offers simple directions for use, although the proper usage is really pretty intuitive: put your desired amount on your fingertips, apply to vaginal (or other) area, use as much as you want and as often as you want.
The primary special feature of this product is its all-natural, all-vegan, irritant-free ingredient list. It contains no parabens, no glycerin (known to cause yeast infections in some women), no gluten, and no DEA (diethanolamine, not the Drug Enforcement Agency--though I don't think it contains any of that, either). In addition, the ingredient list is very short, with only eight ingredients, and contains carrageenan, aloe, and vitamin E. Good stuff!
My partner and I have used this for vaginal strap-on sex several times now, and have each used it with vibrators for solo play. It provides a really nice, natural-feeling slipperiness which we both enjoyed, and my very sensitive bits didn't experience any irritation during or after use. We did need to reapply occasionally, but no more often than with those other, less-safe products we'd tried before. We ended up keeping a glass of warm water on the nightstand, which enabled whoever was closest to just dip her fingers and flick a few drops onto the areas in need of greater wetness, whenever needed.
By the way, whichever lubricant you choose, I suggest placing the bottle in a short, half-full glass of very warm water for at least a few minutes before use (unless you like cold temperature play with your lube, that is).

This is by far my favorite of all the sex lubricants I've tried, even though it isn't marketed as one! It's silky, slick, and completely non-irritating for me. I also love the way it doesn't trail a long string of lube behind it, once applied. This pretty bottle lives on my nightstand now, always ready for solo or partnered sessions...though sometimes I bring it into the bath as well, because, despite being water-based, it does last a little while in water!
