Problematic Pleasure Pill

The Onye is a beautiful toy, which would be excellent for a beginner. Boasting strong vibrations in 3 speeds and 5 patterns, there's something for everyone to love! This would make an excellent gift, because of its luxury presentation and design. A dependable little vibrator, just not right for me.

Use

Onye is a stunning "discreet" vibrator from Big Teaze Toys. It looks much like an giant pill, or hefty tampon, only much prettier. Powerful, tingly vibrations make this an excellent clitoral vibe. It's also strong enough to be felt through clothing, if you're in the mood to be a little naughty and tease yourself or a loved one. Because of its small size, it is not intended for deep insertion. However, it's absolutely delicious for shallow penetration! Insert Onye up to as far as the silicone band, and let it work its magic! Because of its lack of a flared base, I would suggest against using this for anal play. It would be all to easy too lose this in your ass. Onye's body is smooth and silky to the touch, making it great for beginners and advanced users alike. It's fairly quiet, and would be an excellent toy for travel or shared living. As long as you've got some batteries on hand, there's fun to be had.

Material / Texture

The majority of Onye's body is made of shimmery white ABS Plastic. There is a 1" baby pink silicone band near the top of the toy for easy gripping. On either side of the silicone band is a tiny stainless steel trim. A button on its head changes the vibration mode, and is also made from that same pink silicone. All of these are food-grade materials, completely non-porous, hypo-allergenic, and free of latex or pthalates. The toy is odorless and tasteless.

There really is no texture to this toy, besides the slight drag from the silicone. The end of the toy you'll be using for insertion and stimulation is completely smooth and glides almost a little too easily against bodily surfaces. By this I mean it has a tendency to slip right when you find that sweet spot. It would be excellent for beginners given its lack of texture, but perhaps a little frustrating since it does slide around fairly easily.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is where this toy failed me. As stated above, the Onye closely resembles a comically huge pill, or an over sized tampon. 4 1/2" in total length, with 2 1'2" insertable, and 1 1/4" diameter. It's a pretty petite little thing which suited me just fine. Either end of the toy is completely rounded, and herein lies my problem. While the vibrations were strong and lovely, I just couldn't get them where I needed them! I would have liked if the end of this toy had some more definition, or a point instead of the bulbous curve it features. The silicone band which is supposed to be used to get a better grip works moderately well, but can be twisted around on the plastic, thus somewhat defeating the purpose. Onye is pretty easy to hide in your purse, pocket, or suitcases for on the go and travel. It would be a good toy for a beginner because of the simplistic and unintimidating design.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Onye takes 3 AAA batteries, and packs a good deal of power. Twist the cap off, insert said batteries, twist cap back on and you're ready for some fun. The button on the head of the toy turns it on/off and cycles through the different vibration setting. To turn it on, gently press once and it will activate its lowest steady setting. One thing I did love was that the button was very very easy to press and change settings; a light tap will be sufficient. I was at first worried it would be a hassle, that I'd end up bumping it during use and changing settings right when I really didn't want to. However, because of the button's location, this was never an issue for me. The Onye features a total of 8 different vibration settings. The first three are steady vibration: low, medium, & high respectively. The next 5 are your patterns, which are as follows: escalating, surging, pulsating (almost similar to a heartbeat), a low-low-low high surging, and faster pulsating. I really enjoyed the wide array of patterns included with this toy. It makes it very versatile, and most users will be able to find something they love here. The vibrations are located at the bottom end of the toy, opposite end of the button of course. The vibes are very strong and tingly, however, and can be felt along the entire surface of the toy's shaft. To turn Onye off without having to cycle through all of its functions, merely press and hold the pink button for 3 seconds. The Onye really isn't all that noisy, considering it has some fairly decent strength hiding within its cute little body. It's likely to be heard underneath covers, but quiet enough that it won't be heard through a door. Because of its inconspicuous nature, this would be an excellent toy for a dorm or other shared living circumstances.

Care and Maintenance

Being made of ABS plastic, stainless steel, and silicone, this toy is "safe to use with high quality water or silicone based lubricants". I'm unsure why they don't suggest using it with oil based, but I'd rather follow the manuals instructions for the safety of my toy.

Cleaning the Onye can be a little tricky. It is labeled "Splash proof" and features a small o-ring in attempts to keep out moisture. Unfortunately, I often discover that water still finds its way inside. Part of the problem I believe is that the battery compartment twists off with the slightest turn. Convenient for quickly inserting batteries, not so great when you're trying to clean a toy. It is incredibly easy to accidentally open the compartment during cleaning (I have never done so during use, however). Because of this, and the fact that "Splash proof" more likely translates to "Drip proof", I would suggest wiping it down with a damp, soapy rag. You may also wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol to disinfect. Pat dry with a clean towel, and store neatly tucked away in your beautiful satin-lined storage box. Remove batteries when not in use to preserve battery life.

Packaging

The Onye came in a gorgeous white box with a large pink band and silver trim wrapping around the center. It looks much like the toy itself, only square. The Big Teaze Toys logo is positioned at the top of the box, and the words "Onye, Vibromasseur" at the bottom. The back of the box details the features of the toy. On either side of the box, some of those same details are listed in two alternative languages. Inside you will find a sturdier box roughly the same size as the outer packaging, and a small instruction manual. The manual has product specs and care instructions in 7 different languages. I suggest reading through this, at least briefly, before operating the toy. The box that the toy itself comes in is covered in a white fabric material, and sports a plastic Big Teaze Toys logo on the top. Upon opening it you will discover your Onye, safely nestled in what I believe is a foam insert lined with an exquisite black satin. The outer cardboard box "has to be kept since it contains important information". This is what your manual proclaims, but I personally see almost no use for it. The booklet contains the same information stated on the box, and with the beautiful storage case they provide, what would be the point? A box in a box seems a little redundant to me. Overall, a wonderfully presented toy. This would be one to keep on your nightstand.

Personal comments

Ah, the Onye. Beauty redefined. Made of baby pink silicone and shimmery white plastic, it truly is elegance incarnate. I wanted to love this toy. I really really did. It's cute, powerful, and fits easily in the palm of your hand. With eight different types of vibration (3 speeds, and 5 modes) it provides a wide spectrum of fun to be had. It comes in a beautiful white and pink box which matches the colors of the toy, and includes a white case with black satin lining with which to store it. And yet, I just couldn't bring myself to like it. Despite its seductive design and gorgeous presentation, it just didn't please me. Don't get me wrong, it has wonderfully thuddy, strong vibrations; but for all its power, it got me nowhere! I believe my issue with it is the design itself. Shaped rather like a large, stout tampon, it's completely rounded at the ends. This made the vibrations, powerful as they were, diffused and hard to direct where I wanted them. There's just no pinpoint stimulation! For this reason, I only ever use it as a warm up tool. Great for preliminaries, but it never makes it to the main event.

Great review. The shape which seems to be a big part of the downfall for you is exactly why I love the onye so so so much.

TitsMcScandal, I'm glad it worked for you! It was just so 'meh' for me. I'm tempted to pull it out of its hiding spot in the bottom of my toy trunk and give it another go though. Thanks for reading!
