Pretty Powerful Battery-Operated Frosted Glass Vibe

This fun jewel-tone glass vibe takes a single AA battery but packs a punch because of the way the glass transmits vibrations.

Use

This battery-operated vibe is made from glass! This may be the first, or one of the first, glass vibes out there. It certainly seems like the first glass vibe at this price point. If it doesn't look quite like glass in the pictures, that's because it has a frosted finish.

It is pretty powerful considering it only takes one AA battery; this must be because of how the glass transmits vibrations. It goes at three speeds, and is on the loud side--again, the loudness must be due to the fact that it's glass.

It's marked as "waterproof" so that means it's splash-safe, but I would caution against fully submerging any electrical toy. Submerging it could lead to breakage or a shorter lifespan.

Material / Texture

The shaft is made of glass with a frosted coating. It's from Doc Johnson, so the packaging offers little in the way of detailed info--but I wonder if the frosted coating isn't designed to help protect the glass. It's as hard as glass and a little cool to the touch unless you warm it by dipping it in warm water. It's not quite as cold as unfrosted glass, and I imagine that's because of the coating.

One thing I didn't like was that the frosted coating was easy to scratch, leaving faint white marks.

On the plus side, this is a relatively affordable way to get the hard intensity of glass with added vibes--a rare combination, to be sure.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

Overall, I like the jewel-tone color and the fun design. It looks feminine and flirty but not super girly.

I like the pointed tip because it goes in easy--a feature I always appreciate because of my generally tight nether regions. I also liked how the bulge in the middle intensified the sensation of penetration mid-stroke. The vertical ridges also add a little extra stimulation.

It's not inherently a G-spot toy, but if you can angle it right, depending on the location of your own spot, you might be able to hit it. I was.

Functions / Performance / Controls

There is a simple on/off button on the end of the battery pack, which is plastic and screws on. Pressing the button turns it on and cycles through the speeds. I like the simplicity of the button, but it's placement does introduce the danger of turning it off accidentally during use.

The vibes are rather strong for a one-battery toy, and I suspect that this is because of the way the glass transmits vibrations.I like the type of strong, throbby vibes too.

Care and Maintenance

It is non-porous and can be sterilized with a 10% bleach solution and soap and water rinse-off. Use a condom if sharing with others. Take the battery out when not in use to prevent acid leaking out and ruining the toy.

Packaging

Simple and discard-able. Makes it look fun for a gift.

It is not the first glass vibrator out there- if you do a search on EF for glass vibrators, you will see that Kissa has been around for over a year and there are a few others listed (one which is in the +$50 range, rest around $20-$30).

I would have liked to know what the packaging actually looks like, if it's a box or a plastic clam. Can I assume there are no patterns, you mentioned just speeds (how many?)?
And what kind of lube can I use with this toy?
