Preciously Standard
While providing ample vibration power on a low budget, this vibrator isn't going to last years to come, or win any awards for stellar design. It isn't made of impressive materials, it isn't rechargeable, come with fifty adjustable settings, or in a velvet lined box, but it certainly does get the job done on a no frills budget.

Pros
Good Power, Quick Turn-Off, Cheap Price Tag
Cons
On the loud side, Somewhat cheaply made
The Basics:
The "Precious Metal Gems Vibe" is a traditional style, battery powered (2AA) vibrator. It's described by its manufacturer (CalExotics) as hypo-allergenic, latex-free, phthalates free and waterproof. The only of these qualities I would perhaps doubt would be its waterproofing. Water resistant, certainly, but I probably wouldn't repeatedly submerge it for any significant amount of time.
The rest of the qualities are great, and a definite plus in the department of material safety, which is a very important department when it comes to what toys you let near your sexy-bits. Warning: There is no enlarged end to keep it from getting away from you, so this toy is not butt-approved.
Regarding Vroom:
I would describe myself as a bit of a power queen (I prefer strong vibrations that aren't at especially high or low frequencies) and for me the power of this vibe is definitely sufficient, especially on two AA's. The base is a twistable "gem" that controls the multi speed vibrations on a gradual scale rather than distinct settings. A quick twist stops vibration, so that can be pretty convenient by way of discretion, though the feature is a little negated by the loud volume of its vibrations. A thick blanket and a door should effectively muffle the sound, but as far as dorms go, it probably is not going to go unnoticed.
My Opinion:
Initially, I was a little disappointed by this vibrator. It is not a luxury item, don't expect it to come lavishly packaged, or be particularly high quality. The bronze metallic finish seems like it may, eventually, begin to flake off or fade depending on how often or roughly it is used/stored. The "gem" on the end is very obviously plastic, and doesn't really contribute much to the visual aesthetic of the vibrator. In fact, on mine the gem is a little crooked.
Overall, it just feels kind of cheap. That said, the vibrations are quality, and although I've really come to prefer rechargeable vibes, I can definitely appreciate that this one doesn't seem to eat through battery power very quickly. The initial disappointment has dissipated over time and I've really come to like this vibe - it's my backup, in case none of my rechargeable favorites are juiced up and need a charge.
Regarding Cleaning & Care:
It is suggested to stick with water based lubes on this toy, and it can be easily cleaned with soap and water. As with any battery powered vibe, it's good to remove the batteries while not in use, this will protect the inner mechanisms from any battery-related damage and extend the life of your batteries.

Great review. This looks like my first vibrator, which got the job done for years and years (surprisingly).
