Oui oui! Though not the perfect vibe, Oui has its uses!
The Oui is far from perfect, but its discretion is a quality which few vibrators share. It is very travel friendly and great for beginners, though its vibrations are too buzzy to be enjoyed by some. It only has one speed, but is still relatively quiet and is wonderful for foreplay.
The Oui is meant for clitoral stimulation, but can be used all over the body. Because of the flat shape of this toy, I would not recommend using it internally. It can, however, stimulate virtually any external part of your body, including nipples, clitoris, labia, and such. Its vibrations are probably not enough to finish you off, but are great for teasing and foreplay.
The Oui is great for beginners. It is easy to use, pleasant on the eyes, and not intimidating. Advanced users can benefit from it as well, since it can easily be used along with other toys. It's probably not the best first toy, but it would work nicely in a beginner's toy chest along with other toys.
My favorite uses so far are simply sitting on this vibrator in my comfortable chair or having it in my underwear, with it stimulating my labia and the exterior of my vagina and anal area in both cases. I don't normally enjoy things near my butt, but for some reason the broad buzziness of this toy feels nice when it is simultaneously near those areas. For males, this can be used on the shaft of your penis or on your balls for stimulation during masturbation. It will probably not be to satisfy their needs, but it surely can help. Its best uses are probably between partners, as its even front and back vibrations can stimulate both parties at the same time.
Keep in mind that this vibrator is not waterproof and thus cannot be used in the bath or shower. However, it is very travel friendly due to how small and discreet it is, giving the Oui its own niche of uses. It's also great since you do not have to hide it between uses, as few people will immediately recognize it as a vibrator.
The Oui is made of a shiny plastic. It is entirely non-porous, latex free, phthalate free, and hypo-allergenic, earning it an Eden safety rating of 8. Because the Oui is non-porous, there is no place for bacteria to hide if the toy is properly cleaned, thus making it possible to share. The button is made out of an unidentified soft plastic or rubber, making it easy to find by touch even when the toy is in use.
There is no flexibility or give to this toy, making it entirely firm and thus easy to press into any area of your body that you see fit. There is no texture to the smooth exterior of this toy, making it very pleasant to the touch and nice to slide across your skin. There is a seam across the narrow side of the toy, but it is not possible to feel while the toy is in use. This is not the toy for texture lovers.
Even straight out of the packaging, there is absolutely no smell or taste to this toy.
The most common comparison made to this toy is a pair of lips, with the button located in the Cupid’s bow. This is by no means a perfect analogy, but I could not think of any better. It's significantly larger than a pair of lips, though, measuring 2 by 3 inches and less than half an inch wide. The vibrations are not located in any specific part of the vibrator and are very broad.
This toy is extremely discreet and does not scream 'vibrator' when somebody looks at it. I have left mine lying around and nobody has recognized it for what it is (or even really noticed it for that matter). Because it is thin, it can fit in a variety of places, such as pockets and purses, making it great to travel with. However, be careful that there is no travel lock function. If you are caught with it, just claim that it is a temple or wrist massager.
The discreet and small nature of this toy makes it great for beginners. It is not at all intimidating and not realistically shaped, so most people should be comfortable using it.
To turn the Oui on, simply press the button on the "cupid's bow", located on the top side of the vibrator. Pressing this button gently turns the vibrator on while it is being pressed, while pressing it until it clicks keeps it on until clicked again. It only has one speed of medium strength. I rated them two and a half vrooms, but ended out rounding down. The vibrations are not centered in any specific spot and instead seem to come equally from all parts of the vibrator, including the bottom. They are very buzzy.
This vibrator is by no means quiet, but neither is it very loud. I was torn between giving it two or three vrooms, but then decided to go with two since the sound can be dulled if you press it against you or have it surrounded in soft materials. If I turn it on my desk, it is quite loud, but if there is a blanket under it the sound diminishes significantly.
This vibrator is powered by a single AAA battery. The battery compartment is on the bottom of the toy and very easy to use. I use a rechargeable battery and it runs just fine, so this is not one of those toys that are incompatible with rechargeable batteries.
Cleaning the Oui is pretty easy. Simply clean it with a wet washcloth or a toy-cleaning wipe on the side touching your body, and then carefully wipe the side with the battery compartment, making sure that no water makes it into the toy. Because it is not waterproof, do not submerge it in water and avoid running the tap over it.
The Oui is plastic, so it is compatible with any type of lubricant and safe to use with condoms (though I cannot imagine why you would need a condom for this toy).
Because the Oui does not look like a vibrator, you can store it anywhere you choose, whether it be your toy chest, nightstand, rock collection, or even your desk. Mine lives near my laptop, and nobody seems to have noticed that it is an object that does not quite belong. I am also the type to have a lot of random things on my desk, though. Since Oui is made of a hard plastic, you do not have to worry about any interactions or damage done to the toy, and if it somehow gets scratched it should not be a problem. Just remember, don't store it in a place where it might get wet!
My Oui came with minimal packaging. It was simply placed in a plastic bag with a sheet of instructions explaining, with only pictures, how to put the battery inside. I felt that this was self-explanatory with the obvious battery slot... The instructions provided no information about use, cleaning, limitations, or anything of the sort. Because I knew a lot of details about this toy already from reading about it on EdenFantasys, this did not pose much of a problem to me, but nicer packaging would have been preferable.
This packaging is discreet in the sense that this vibrator is discrete. Because there is nothing actually written on the bag, you can claim that this is anything from a write massager for when you're typing to a pebble that emits relaxing white noise.
If you're giving this as a gift, I would recommend adding additional packaging like a gift bag or something. You can use this bag for storage to prevent the Oui from being scratched.
I was initially quite disappointed with this toy. I wanted to like it; I really did, but could not quite find way to use it well. I'm still iffy about it, but with time I found uses for it. Still, it's a bit too big to comfortably to fit in my underwear and I'm a bit worried that it might break if I sit on it too much, so it's not quite perfect. I'm giving it three stars for this reason.
It's not a bad toy, and I still feel that it has its uses, but it's just not quite for me. It does make a good travel vibrator, though, and this is what I will probably use it most for.
Follow-up commentaryI don't like it anymore3 months after original review
I am not sure if I have become more sensitive or this toy has become louder, but it certainly seems that my Oui is closer to three bees now (maybe I sat on it too much). Regardless, with time, I grew weary of the novelty of having this toy and stopped trying to force myself to enjoy it. Since writing this review, my Oui has been rehomed to a more appreciating home with a friend of mine that really needs a single, entirely discreet toy, for which the Oui works will. I simply have too many clitoral stimulators that I adore to bother with ones that do not excite me.
